one of my favorite episodes this season/book

Matthew Martin

I can't wait till you find out the "Name" of the dude hunting them down 🤣

logan

love the talk in this ep

Anonymous

Weirdly, i think that this is my favorite episode in all of AtlA. its so rare to see villains be human

Sydney Horton

This is on my top 5 episodes list excluding the finale. And Azula is just amazing in this

William Timmins

This is an episode which sounds stupid and trite and then manages to be one of the better episodes of the series.

Chaplain Harvest

haha you think this episode is a fever dream just you wait.

Alexis Plummer

The weird foot fetish guy that you guys were talking about’s name is “Dan Schneider”. He worked on live action shows like Zoey 101, Drake & Josh, ICarly, and Victorious, and yes all of them were known for their “foot humor”. He has since been fired.

Ben Asay

Did the show ever explain the origins of the guy with the 3rd eye? How and why can he do that stuff and why doesn't he talk 😅

Seraphem

I love how they took the anime cliche of a fan little fanservicy Beach Episode, and used to to get some actual character exploration, and of the antagonists no less. And, manage to add a bit of humanization to Azula, without detracting from her being a freaking terrifying sociopath.

the one

i forgot i used to have a big crush on ty lee when i was young.

Brye Baker

Dan schneider and his foot obsession is why in one piece luffy has a gear 4 double kick move called rhino schneider

Asad Khabir

In old times it was very rare that you actually got to see the Monarch themselves let alone their children. So you would have no idea who they were. For example most Japanese only heard their Emperor's voice for the first time in 1945 when Hirohito announced Japan's surrender.

Kacey Coins

This IS anime, its western anime

Ricky Faber

side note, that 3 eyed firebending assassin is apparently 7"2

SweetCandle

"Who broke my nana's vase?" Raises the question, did the vase belong to Nana, or did it CONTAIN Nana?

Kayla Kulik

I love how much you guys switched up your appreciation for the beach episode!! I was so happy you guys ended up liking it! Also, I like how silent and serious you guys were when everyone was letting out their anger around the campfire. I appreciate you guys getting into the show like that! Thank you!

DementisXYZ

"Become a silver Billy today and licker Hman's face." These tier rewards are getting weird, man. I mean, I'm not gonna no day, but I shouldn't say yes...

Jimmy Wise

Nope...I think it was explained a bit in the comics though? Have to double check that...

Yeah there’s a particular clip online of a Nickelodeon show Ariana Grande was in at the time Dan Schneider was one of their main creators/producers. She’s sitting on a bed and is trying to put her foot in her mouth and stuff, so not only was he a creep but a full blown p*dophile 😬 He was notoriously aggressive on set too and asked female coworkers for massages. There’s like 3 or 4 good video essays ab it on YT, bit of a rabbithole, disturbing stuff but it’s good to see a man like that stripped of his career at least since of course none of the allegations against him were found to be true 🙄

Gestrid

Yeah, Dan Schneider was a pedophile. The foot stuff was only the most public thing we know about. Dan's a large part of the reason why so many of Nickelodeon's child actors, like Noah Munck (the actor for Gibby, who was shirtless for most of the early episodes of iCarly; it mostly stopped around when the actor hit puberty) and Jeanette McCurdy (who quit acting altogether after Sam and Cat was cancelled), have refused to work with Nickelodeon on future projects. Like Jeanette McCurdy, some of them have even quit acting altogether.

One of my favorite episodes for sure, I love the anime beach episode vibe at the beginning only for it to, in classic Avatar fashion, become character heavy as we get that natural trauma breakdown of each member of our antagonist group. Seeing them from an isolated perspective where they're just interacting, separate from the plot (mostly), is so refreshing! Not to mention the mental first fight with explody man on the side. One to remember at the very least.

Lorenzo Baxter

Azula is an amazing villain for a reason. Keep in mind, she's literally only 14. Asking Zuko to come to the beach was super out of place if she was this evil monster that doesn't feel. But clearly, she's definitely hurt by her mother's neglectful emotional love and left Azula with her father, which is obviously a big reason why she behaves the way she does. I really like this episode for exploring the villains. Like of course Zuko would've gotten explored, but showing stuff about Mai, Tai Lee, and Azula of all people was a really welcome surprise.

ADAMNATOR

This episode of Zuko and Azula attempting to interact with normal teens show just how much being raised by someone like the Fire Lord in a place like the Fire Nation really would do to someone

Ahan Shankwalkar

This is prob my fav ep in the show

Pikachahoo

Before Joji was Joji, there was.. Pink Guy - Nickelodeon girls

RedFlagDiver

Avatar has a beach episode, ergo, Avatar is anime.

Thine Tiny Equine

Ohhh yeah this was the episode where the cracks start to show in Azula

Pixie

I used to think it contained Nana but upon further rewatches it doesn’t look like anything is *in* the vase. But I still like to think it’s the latter for sure lmfao

Jan Ripken

Ayye, we finally got the funny anime beach episode :D Man, I just absolutely love this one

JRax 17

What does episode really put into perspective is that Zuko and Azula are still just kids Azula is 14 and Zuko is 16 and they me personally I feel like they do actually love each other, but their wicked fucking father has pitted them against each other their whole lives also, they both have two distinct issues that are different sides of the same coin Zuko clearly has daddy issues. Which usually creates a people pleaser Azula on the other hand, has some mommy issues which usually create something worse.. a psychopath

Katherine Lott

"Why did they DO that?!" Chen rejected Azula. You don't think she's going to wreck the house of the guy who took her first kiss and ran?

2023-07-15 20:49:22 Yeah, no. How abuse trauma manifests does not hinge on which parent caused it. I don't know where you're even getting that.
2023-07-15 18:46:52 Yeah, no. First. Zuko is not a people pleaser, and Azula's issues stem from Ozai much more than Ursa. Further, how abuse trauma manifests does not hinge on whether it's "daddy" or "mommy" issues. I don't know where you're getting that but it isn't from actual mental health research.

Feels like im the only one in this world getting why they destroyed the party house. For me the moment the guys said "Do you know who we are?" was already enough for me to destroy their entire house, they think too much of themselves
