I think they just altered the colour of the black armor digitally for the promo images. On to the discussion of the quality of the movies/books. I was a book reader for this series after watching the first movie and I adored the second book. I loved the relationship between Katniss, Peeta and Haymitch growing through the tour as she tried to convince Snow that she wasn't going to be a rebel leader. I loved the Chess like play of Snow creating a new rule for the 75th Hunger Games to kill Katniss and how deeply that effected everyone involved, even those that were once fully loyal to the capital. I loved the intrigue of who was on Katniss' side and who wasn't and the eventual revelation that a group of people were all working to stop the Capital from within the game. I think the second movie captured that all beautifully. The third book/third and fourth movie were my least favourite of the series because it felt like it was the most straight forward. There wasn't as many twists outside of the bombing and Peeta's brainwashing and I hate when character deaths don't get the proper time to be felt in the story, like what happened to Finnick. Still a good movie, but my least favourites.

I was so mad when I saw finnick going to help after his wedding because I just knew he was going to die. He’s not a main person and he’s too good for the world. He just got Annie back. They deserved better. Peeta and katniss are definitely better together than gale and her and I don’t hate gale but the stuff he did last was crazy. Like idk.

I really didn’t care that much for Mockingjay when I first read it as a child because it just felt way too dark even with the “happy ending”, but the older I get the more positively I feel about it! I don’t feel like the movie portrayed that as much and they really couldn’t ig but I love that it’s made so clear in the books how deeply traumatized these characters are even decades after the events of the movies. But how that doesn’t stop them from living life and trying to have a positive outlook on things.

I mean as a book reader, I enjoyed the Mockingjay movies more than the books lol. Yeah, they left out things here in there, but it's literally impossible not to

Yeah watching the movie I found it strange the decision to not have Katniss and Gale and whoever else join the capital refugees without makeup and a cool outfit. Mostly considering they got help from someone who was a makeup artist for the games, I feel like that would just fit better.

Not to be dramatic but this was my first time watching both parts of mockingjay cause the books left me so depressed back in 2013😭. It's been a decade so my memory is fickle but I BELIEVE the bombings, Gale getting dragged away, prims death, and then cut to Kaitnees waking up like a week later is accurate to how it happened in the book cause it was told from her pov. At 16 I was so confused on the final act cause from her perspective it was just her disassociating till she killed coin. Also the movie made this ending a HELL of a LOT nicer than the books ending. I won't go into detail but just know ms Suzanne Collins pulled no punches to the torture and trauma all these characters dealt with and how it forever effected their lives! I distinctly remember the tumblr discourse and how people despised how bleak it ended

Admittedly it has been a minute since seeing that trilogy for me, but I don’t remember liking the 3rd all that much and tbh I really disliked how they essentially made the 2nd a zombie movie. First was great…could’ve used a bit more screen time, but great nonetheless. The 2nd felt too simple from what I remember, and I don’t remember much about the 3rd, despite me 1000% watching it. Definitely not against seeing them react and possibly getting the non book readers pov though

Mockingjay part 1 is really good, I have no issue with it. Part 2 is trash. The 3rd book is bad. I think the author didn't want to keep writing after the 2nd book but was under contract. So she just threw a book out for the 3rd book, not caring about the trilogy anymore.

Katniss was very underused. In the 1st 2 movies she became a badass. But here she dosen't do anything. The book is worse. There are 2-3 times where she loses her voice because of emotional trauma (not counting Peeta's attack). After her and the star squad got that far all of a sudden they weren't needed and the war was over. Bad writing

Also Gale helped device a plan to bomb the medics running to help. It had been deviced to use against the capitals forces. Coin learned about it and used it against her own medics trying to make it look like the Capital had done it. Gale had nothing to do with that part. But because the strategy had originally came from him Katniss cut him out of her life.

Interesting facts about the quarter quells. The 1st one (year 25) was only 50 years ago but no one remembers what was special about those games. To me it seems like something important happened that's being hidden. The 2nd one (50 years) was double the entry's 2 boys and 2 girls from every district had to enter. One winner, Haymich. The 3rd one (75 years) was the one where past victors competed.

I just resubscribed to see the movies you guys react to and I love yalls reaction. Here is to the year subscription, can't wait to see what lies ahead! In terms of the movies I originally liked the first one more then the second and finally the 3rd and 4th films. But as I am older I like the 2nd one the most, then it's the 1st film, followed by the 3rd and then the 4th. The reason I placed the 1st film second on my list is that just the introduction and learning of the games is so much fun. As a movie-only watcher, I had no idea who would live and die. Peeter was not guaranteed to survive the 74 games and I liked that suspense. We were introduced to this world and we learned the struggles of Katniss and her fight to survive. Yes, the first film is not as high quality as the 3rd and 4th films. But my biggest issue was some long pauses and the continuous telling of events and the lack of showing stuff to us. Yes, they can't introduce every character and flesh them out like the makeup artist that shows up in this film. But the letter describing the fall of the Capital made me feel robbed. They don't have to show much but they could have panned away from Katniss after she got blown up and showed rebels and peacekeepers storming the mansion and grabbing snow. Just an additional 30 sec to 1min would have been nice. Hitting on what Boom said, it is definitely a different experience for a movie-only watcher and a book reader, that is why I am not a huge fan of She-Ra. I am positive it is a good show and has good characters, development, progression, and romance. But I didn't like that they added so many different elements thus changing the "Story". Again, as Boom said about how World War Z is a good film but in terms of adaptation it is not. So in short, I wish She-Ra had a different title but since I was exposed to the original cartoon that is why I have this opinion here but that not applies to Hunger Games because I haven't read the books. Overall good movies, glad yall enjoy these a lot more than others. Great reaction and hope yall are enjoying She-Ra. If yall want to watch similar movies that are like this then I recommend the Divergent movies and the Maze Runner movies. They are end-of-the-world stories from the point of view of a teen. Although, I don't think they are as good as Hunger Games. Hunger Games could have been a great show, but if you want a show recommendation I would say the 100 is a good one to get into. Later seasons are OK but the first like 2-3 are really good. Twist and turns, drama, romance, end of the world environment, and some good action here and there.
