Seeohknee is the one correct

No one's gonna really defend her she is a bitch

Good job spoiling a major dramatic moment in Book 3, y'all. You don't need to correct or provide an answer for everything, people. Just shut up and let them watch the show!

This will always be my favorite Zuko episode. And yeah, years of prejudice/hate for the Fire Nation isn't going to go away because of one firebender you befriended for like a day or two. So it pains me, but Lee turning his back on Zuko makes soooo much sense. That ending shot of Zuko leaving town with the sunset and music...so beautiful

Honey

A Good way to avoid spoilers in the comments is to ask viewers to leave fake spoilers and head canons at the end of each video. Another reactor I watch does this, and it not only prevents her knowing what's real and fake, but helps boost the video in the algorithm on youtube as well. It's also super fun for the community to come up with fake spoilers and stuff. Just as a suggestion if you guys wanted to try it out! Bc I hate seeing you get spoiled.

William Timmins

Iroh mentions that his son has passed away, at the end of season 1. Now we know how.

knowing the answers and just keeping my mouth shut lol

|| i respect if y’all don’t like her btw || Honestly this episode made me sympathize with Azula. She’s a child getting conflicting definitions of right and wrong from her parents and obviously she would side with the parent who praises her (Ozai) rather than the parent who punishes her (Ursa). Ozai is shown to pit his kids against each other in this episode and I think that contributed to why Azula seems to hate Zuko. She likes to play with him as a kid (as shown in a past flashback and in this episode for 0.3 seconds lol) and even tried to get him to date one of her close friends. I don’t think she would do that if she truly hated him. We don’t really know what Ozai has been telling Azula

1) don’t spoil stuff here come on, 2) he was 100% talking about zuko

Shay-Thelogicaldreamer

This is my favorite episode. The pacing and story telling is just so good. Sadly Zuko didn't quite understand what his mother meant when she told him not to forget who he was. It wasn't about his title, it was about who he was as a person.

Gestrid

They're explaining the stuff this episode didn't go into detail about when it's already explained later.

Virginia Wilson

My favorite read of the Azulon situation is that it was a BIG game of telephone. What Azula heard was that Ozai was going to lose his firstborn son and heir, but she does NOT quite Azulon as having ordered Ozai to murder Zuko. She makes an assumption as to what that means (and goes for the worst option bc she’s sadistic). I prefer to believe Azulon meant that he would be taking Zuko and adopting him into Iroh’s bloodline. But Azula makes an assumption, passes the info to Zuko and Ursa like it’s fact, Ursa goes to Ozai and begs for Zuko’s life, at which point he realizes he can sweep the board and tells her he will spare Zuko if she poisons Azulon - and then banishes her, so no one can ever learn the truth.

Geo Beast

ruffs' new hairdo looks really nice

Seraphem

Except that wasn't her just wanting to play with him to be nice, or actually wanting to help set him up, she just wanted an excuse to humiliate him and make him look like a fool.

Seraphem

I can see making a case that most of the time, insulting a little kid could be off putting given they are a kid..... but this is Azula, calling her a psychotic bitch is just stating facts. She is pretty much a textbook sociopath. And again this episode shows that 1. Deep down Zuko is a good person who is just struggling to find his way. 2. Ozai is a shortsighted idiot. If he ever cared about more then just raw firebending skill, and actually encouraged Zuko's other training, or just not been a dick his whole life to him, he'd have one of the best damn assassins on the planet working for him.

The one piece that people are missing. Is that intern for Zuko’s mom to kill Azulon she was banished which is why you see her leave in the middle of the night.

Multxverse

As you can see, Avatar establishes very early on that anything animal can fuck any animal.

Multxverse

Yeah, Azulon had SOME principals and morals despite being a conqueror. Ozai and Azula are just another breed of psycho.

Honey

Mhm! I adore her, and it's such a great way to stay spoiler free. I just didn't wanna name her bc I wasn't sure how they feel about mentioning other reactors in their comments. Like if it'd be considered advertising another channel or anything ^^

Anna H

Just keep in mind what Ursa says when we first meet her: Zuko, that's what moms are like. If you mess with their babies, they're going to bite you back

Courtney

I had an aneurysm looking at this, cuz I thought you were me đŸ€Ł

Kailey Anne

her getting them in the water together was so innocent like you can hate her but she did want those two to date ! she literally planned it with ty lee because of mai’s crush on him

JRax 17

I didn’t quite understand this watching it as a kid, but I’m starting to realize that Azula and Ozai are the first example I’ve seen in a kid show of hereditary psychosis

Kendorable

This is unfortunately one of the times the show has to be vague bc of Nickelodeon's censors, it's implied Ursa, Zuko's mother, killed Azulon so that Ozai would not have to kill Zuko, and then had to run away to avoid execution. I never would have understood this as a kid but my mother explained it to me since it was one of the only TV shows I liked that she'd watch with me.

Kendorable

I normally am super careful about spoilers but this is different-- the show is trying so hard to show the audience what happened while getting past Nickelodeon's censors. The day this episode premiered, I was about 12 or so, my mother immediately explained to me "his mother killed the grandfather and had to leave so she wouldn't be punished for the crime".

Bruh, this is explained in season 3 explicitly. Stop posting spoilers when you can let people just watch the show

2023-05-12 07:56:51 Azula has clearly never liked Zuko, no spoilers but it’s not really as simple as “she’s a psycho”. People don’t seem to really understand how empathy is actually a skill that needs to be developed, especially when you’re young. Ursa looks after Zuko because of the way Ozai neglects him. As a result he learns about caring for others. She doesn’t bother with Azula because Ozai favors her, and who is Ozai? A dictatorial warlord that sees empathy as a weakness. We see Zuko jealous of how Azula has their father’s approval, but you can also interpret Azula’s attitude towards their own mother as something similar, just instead of being angry about it she acts like she’s too good for it and they’re better off without her.

"Explicitly" is a strong word, it's only slightly less vague in Season 3 and depending on how long it takes to get to that point you might not even remember the suspicious circumstances enough to realize what exactly is being said

No Consequence

That would actually kind of be a big "f you" to Ozai. Iroh is next in line to be Fire Lord, and then Zuko is considered Iroh's heir so even if Ozai did something like assassinate Iroh, the title would still skip Ozai

Virginia Wilson

Yeah something about the poetry of it really appeals to me (in addition to screwing over Ozai, of course).

Gene

This gets explained more in the Avatar comics, specifically the search, but as implied here Zuko's mom does kill Fire Lord Azulon in order to protect Zuko.
