And so here it is...my new series of Reactor Videos, my version of the "talking heads in the closet" videos that YouTubers whip out with such rapid aplomb!  This series is designed to be a vehicle to produce more videos while reacting quickly to pop culture breaking news.  Naturally, this video was a fuck of a lot of work for something that's supposed to make my life easier, but I guess all pilots are like that, eh?

I think I may come up with a different musical opening for this series, but for right now I just went with my normal opening.  Anyway, here it is people, submitted for your approval straight from the Reactor Core of Xanadoom.  Enjoy!

INDIANA JOAN?!? DOOMCOCK REACTS!

Is there nothing sacred? Are we fans of classic movies to be left with nothing as our franchises fall one after another to the political correctness of Hollywood? In an article on Gizmodo, Spielberg is quoted as saying that Indiana Jones may be recast as a woman and renamed Indiana Joan. WTF?!? Doomcock goes down to his reactor core and seethes in a bath of radiation and indignation at this almost unimaginable violation! The link to the original article is below. If this is "brief", I can't wait to see what you mean by "longer videos". Honestly, Doomcock, with you? It's always "the more, the merrier". So brief or longer, doesn't matter, anything that means more frequently posted content is EFFIN' AWESOME! All hail Doomcock! :D

Of course not! It was exaggeration to express the depths of my disgust! I don't listen to or support Alex Jones, but taking such a potent male icon and pulling that kind of shit on him is symbolically emasculating, and that was what I was alluding to with that comment...this particular bit of news is truly more offensive than I can express, and it's difficult to even kid about it. What subtext can you take away when they're turning male characters into female characters? It isn't a male positive one, that's for damn sure!

Although I totally get why you are upset at the idea of remaking Indiana Jones in this way I totally disagreed with your other statements. I don't like shaming men for not being masculine enough. It is not helpful. I also watched this video on you tube. The comments...You are going to make lots of money from the MRAs that will come flooding on to your channel. Doomcock you are a very intelligent man and I have enjoyed all of my conversations with you. I like to have rational discussions about controversial topics but agreeing with Alex Jones? Unfortunately I see the direction this channel is headed. Once the angry man-children come I will not be welcomed here. So I think I will bow out now. Good luck to you.

I posted a clarification both here, and in my YouTube video description. I think you raised some important points and I'm hoping a public declaration of principles will help clarify my meaning. Unfortunately, when you dance out on the edge of comedy and commentary, you sometimes slip and cut yourself...but Doomcock gotta keep dancing just the same. I suspect that the Krell, or an offshot race, designed the substructure of the Lair, which I captured subsequently...but there's a tale behind that! Suffice it to say...I've got a huge love of Forbidden Planet... ;)

i have to say i completely agree when it comes to characters like Indiana Jones, he is a male stereotype and as such feminising him is wrong, but for something like doctor who i am going to hold judgement, the character of the doctor is an alien and it has long been stated that in universe him being a him is simply down to chance, and so gender swapping the doctor isn't nearly as bad or cannon shattering, i will give the new doctor a chance before i condemn or accept her, i just hope they don't give her a male companion who screams a lot and always needs rescuing.

Yeah, that's reasonable. The thing is, the change in this case feels cynical, not inspired. Who has truly been on a downward spiral for years now, and I doubt this is the way to pull it out of the tailspin, hence my skepticism. But sure, if they made her as good as Sackhoff's Starbuck on BSG, then I'd be open to that...but the odds ain't looking good, sadly...
