What, you thought all this Patreon drama was going to stop me from making new stuff?

None of these four guides is entirely new.

All four of these women have their collections currently listed on on other pages - Gwenpool on Deadpool, Ms. Marvel blended in with Captain Marvel, and Silk and Spider-Gwen on Spider-Woman.

I've spent this week updating all of my guides with the newest Marvel collected edition solicits. In the process, I realized that in trying to gain some sort of efficiency in ganging these characters together with their legacy antecedents I was doing all four characters (and the people searching for them) a disservice.

All but Silk have exploded in popularity and are continuing strong into Marvel Legacy. All but Spider-Gwen make an increasingly wide spread of guest appearances that broaden their stories outside of their own titles.

(Coincidentally, Marvel just announced their new "Marvel Rising" animated project starring Ms. Marvel and Spider-Gwen!)

In cramming them onto other pages, I couldn't dig into these women's stories with the high standard I've set throughout Crushing Comics. I couldn't frame them with introductions or explain every guest appearance. I cannot easily outline where to find them to readers. Plus, I'm losing out on the SEO on these popular characters who are driving massive amount of search traffic!

(Ironically, in the past I've actually thinned out additional guide pages to combine them into fewer pages - like Generation X merging into Young X-Men. Over time, I've discovered that approach tends to make more sense for team books. People are looking for team books in a similar tone or theme, but they tend to be seeking information about specific solo characters. I'd say the exception is when a character temporarily stands in for another character, like Cap's various replacements.)

I'm happy with this little quartet of guides, which together took about as long as one relatively easy new guide for a solo hero who debuted in the 70s or later. Especially in the cases of Gwenpool and Ms. Marvel, I vastly expanded their chronologies and dug into all of their early appearances. For Silk, I detailed all of the build-up of her origin in Amazing Spider-Man. And, for Spider-Gwen, I got to enthuse about Latour and Rodriguez's punk rock energy!

Plus, it was a lot of fun to read more comics from these characters! They are some of the strongest books Marvel has released in recent years (yes, including Gwenpool).

The old guides still contain information on these characters for the moment, but now that these pages are done I will be stripping that out in favor of these pages. They will launch to public consumption over the course of several weeks, one by one.

I'll have a few more of these smaller Marvel Guides for you (and one or wo bigger ones) before I plunge back into my DC work and poll you for more Patrons' Choice picks.

As always, I value your feedback - both on this new guide and in general. Don't hesitate to comment with ideas, critiques, and suggestions!
