This is where the dionysus dance break beat Lo likes is from. I have a special relationship with this choreo.

I really agree with what you said Nick, a lot of kpop songs especially back then were so damn similar to music in America. I’m so glad BTS ditched that and decided to be a lot more authentic with their music. And that makeup they had on was terrible lmao 😂 Thanks for the reaction though ❤️ always gotta love the feedback.

I love N.O but I cannot stand this era and the styling lol, their stylist did them so dirty here but the music was still good tho. Anyways, I really wanted to touch on what u said Nick abt the music sounded so similar over there and here over in America. Their earlier music was very HipHop/R&B centered and rap line were at the forefront of their music during this time. I kinda get annoyed when I see some armies say “oh their older/earlier music was so unique and different” when it really wasn’t, and U could definitely tell because the beats they were using were so familiar. The lyrics were original and I loved that but the music IMO wasn’t the most original thing from them. that’s my only criticism towards their two earlier eras. Anyways I loved the reaction and the feedback💜

Hi guys.. Thanks for the reaction and let me tell you that at this point it's litterally a podcast, maybe you should put it on spotify.. Some Army have already their poscasts. So basically N.O. which means No Offense is about being kids/teens being pressured and forced to study, to care so much about grades and being perfect good students and being successful and having safe careers and making money etc. and how that pressure negatively affects kids/teens. BTS are trying to encourage them to stand up and have their own dreams and pursue those dreams and not focus so much on these things and be forced into someone else’s dream. I also thought it was very brave of them but risky to be so committed from their first albums when they had no power neither financially nor popularly, and the government of the time was authoritarian blacklisting anyone from the art world who took a stand against the system; you have to know that when Seo Tajji (1st kpop group) was successful, the government decided to invest in this sector by giving financial subsidies to entertainment companies in order to develop them and export kpop, and those who took a stand against the system were deprived of this subsidy, but the intelligence of BigHit was to choose to be an indie label (and they still are despite their success, BTS still charts in the Billboard Indie Artists), even today they refuse to use the same methods as the mainstream labels. . That's why they are often ignored by the media and have created their own shows and docu-series to keep control and not have to depend on anyone or be publicly humiliated... I will always remember being impressed when listening to the first few seconds of the intro of their very first album where they introduce themselves to the world as "We tell our story on behalf of those in their 10s and 20s". I really liked Curt's interpretation of the 1st part of the MV that I find powerful in terms of symbolism, the pill reminded me of Matrix and the choice between reality and dream, I found powerful this image of the powerful one who is in front when it is necessary to oppress but who hides behind his henchmen or under the desk in case of rebellion, and the walls that explode the moment the oppressor's baton falls (I also grew up with teachers who had batons to hit us with and that scared us but take the baton away and there is nothing left). As for the make-up and the style, I give them the benefit of the doubt considering their lack of means at the time to hire quality stylists. It is true that the visual is important but I would say that the content (meaning and symbolism) comes before the container... What do you think as filmmakers?

RDM46

Yasmine your post was informative, insightful and well stated… I agree with everything and I love the bravery the guys showed in this track. We love how much thought went into the MV and the breakdown was fun.

Magical Creature

This song had me screamin “Everybody say No” and “We roll” repeatedly for a long time its hella catchy✨💕

RDM46

Swear lol.. I had a love/hate relationship with k pop back then.. Glad BTS switched it up and went their own route

REECE

Can you guys react to their 2019 MAMA performance when they performed N.O and We are bulletproof pt.2 live

ARMYnotArmy

I love this song still. This comeback was impressive at the time, and there's a whole intro choreo to NO that you guys should check out at some point. This song was political and at the time no one else was making a song like this. Most groups were not allowed to by their companies, even if they wanted to speak up about something. BTS didn't care because it was coming from them, their true stories and that was the only demand Bang Si-Hyuk made. They did try to not go over the top and start naming names in songs of political figures, but rather they chose to approach these difficult topics in ways that were tactful, but still impactful. And sometimes... on certain music shows, they were not allowed to perform these kinds of songs, or had to censor certain things in some of their songs. I don't recall NO being censored, but there were two music shows that didn't want this song performed on their show. As you delve more, you'll see other political songs that they were not allowed to perform or had to censor some of during performance. I can't wait till you show Jerrick some J-hope solo stuff. 1Verse is an ARMY favorite, Blue side is more mellow but still good, Hangsang and Baseline are short but good. Kpop definitely use to sound a lot like stuff here. Some of it still does to be honest. I mostly listened to 8Eight, Jo Kwon, BOA, Wondergirls, 4 Minute, and Girls Generation mostly, but thanks to having a sister 10 years older than me I also got to listen to Super Junior, Big Bang, and 2AM a lot. But even they had music like over here. Thanks for the reaction, love the conversations as well. 💜

BTS is another level...they yes have a few songs that talk about love and all this and are phenomenal but most and their strenght is the social, bullying and more deep stuffs, this is why BTS music sadly is not for everybody ( some people just like trash you know...) ...like Suga said "if you hear our music without prejudice you'll like it" or something like this, I appreciate that you turn on the captions during N.O guys...that is a MUST in each BTS song, one of the guys mentioned about fired the make up artist or kind of lol but back in the days the guys just have this emo, bad guys style with smokey eyes, pale skin and all that but as you see their style improve with time...as always appreciate the opinions, even if you don't like the song if you express your point of view with respect no problem then, thank you for the reaction guys :D

Mady Hunt

Did anybody notice that the intro beat from N.O. is the third music change in Dionysus?
