Funny story ... I totally skipped 'It's Love' and didn't even realize it until I listened to the album again on my own and was confused why there was a song that sounded just like Si Fueras Mia but in Korean 🤦‍♂️... Sorry, you guys, lol. I loved it just as much!

Apparently D.O. wrote lyrics for I’m Fine and Rose (I had assumed he wrote lyrics for Dad but I guess he didn’t—I do know that he’s close with his family though), but I’m pretty sure that most of the solo releases you’ve heard from SM aren’t written by the artists — though Mark and Taeyong do often have a hand in writing their lyrics and Taeyong and Kun do produce their own tracks🦋

theyre not usually the main lyricists on all the songs but SM soloists have a lot of creative freedom with their albums. they handpick all the songs and work with the songwriters on the content often. DO may not have been the lyricist for Dad, but that doesnt mean it isnt about him and his dad. Same with Kai's album, he isnt the lyricist for Blue, but he said that the message and thoughts expressed in the songs are all his and very personal. Jonghyun from Shinee was the first kpop idol to self-write their own entire album, so it isnt an "SM thing" to not have creative freedom, though many like to say that on twitter and such lol :)

so many idols, especially male idols love d.o.’s album because i think a lot of them really want to make music like he did but because they are idols they have to make “popular, stimulating” music, a lot of choreo driven, etc. and they are afraid to go a different way. But not D.O. ever since the beginning be was all about doing what he felt was right. I think the reason that so many idols look up to him is becuae of this “courage.” He is always sincere and follows his own heart and this can’t be easy as a KPOP idol. he stands out. truely one of a kind.
