End of year report 2020 (Patreon)

Happy New Year everyone! Here's to 2021 being a little better than 2020.

This past year has been quite the rollercoaster, but for our team, it was probably one of the most if not the most productive year ever!

Let's start with a summary of last year's work:
-15 Hamtaro episodes, three of which were subbed by our collaborator Prayash.
-11 Hamtaro revamped episodes.
-1 Hamtaro movie revamped and 1 Hamtaro OVA revamped
-5 Jewelpet Sunshine episodes, completing the season.
-2 episodes of the first season of Jewelpet, in collaboration with Stardust Fansubs.

This time we barely managed to reach the 10 new episodes for the second half mark, but to be honest that was quite ambitious! So we're glad we pulled it out.

The only thing we missed was working on the Hiragana and Shape and Numbers Hamtaro specials, sadly this year has been so erratic we never got the chance to do it.

The number of Jewelpet episodes released is also short, but that sadly is not on our end. We could sneak peek how far we have got into Jewelpet episodes but Stardust Fansubs is more perfectionist than us and they take quite a lot of work and effort to provide the best releases possible. So this project will be slower than Sunshine, that's for sure!

Now then, let's move on and discuss next year's objectives:
-Sub 30 Hamtaro episodes, completing the series.
-Sub the Hiragana and Shape and Numbers Hamtaro specials.
-Sub the original Jewelpet season, following up the collaboration with Stardust Fansubs.
-Revamp 8 previously translated Hamtaro episodes.
-Revamp at least 1 of the Hamtaro movies and 1 of the OVAs.
-Study the possibility of subbing other series related to the “kodomo” group.
-If a new Hamtaro series shows up, translate it in the shortest time possible as a full-fledged sub team would do.
-Try to create a “stream event” where we subtitle live.
-Promote Patreon and Ko-Fi more to increase our patrons.
-Create a specific website, outside of Ham-Ham Paradise, for Paradise Hamsubs.

As the year prior, some of these are just objectives that are on the to-do list but are very low priority. We limited the number of revamped episodes as the same number than last year, we have noticed that revamping episodes usually takes too much time because most of the raws are improved from what they used to be, and the timing is way off, so almost every line requires fixing and it saps a lot of time. We also kept the objective of one movie and OVA revamped, and the specials that we are missing.

Hm? You noticed something else?

Oh right! You read it correctly! There are only 30 episodes left to sub!

André's objective is to at least sneak peek three episodes each month, but that will put a huge pressure over Kristo so we won't be promising three episodes a month. Just the sneak peeks, so expect a lot of backlog!

For that matter, except January because there won't be much time to decide, we plan to separate all episodes in batches of three if they have something in common (for example, if all three episodes are "human episodes", or if all three are set on summer, or if all three are from season 12, that kind of thing) and make a poll for our patrons to decide which episodes to be worked on.  If the patrons engagement is too small, we will also open this poll to the public on discord so stay tuned!

We are very excited to be able to do this and finally finish subbing all Hamtaro episodes, which has been our objective for over a decade now.

So this year, 2021, will hopefully be a great year! Huge expectations ahead!
