MAXIMS

Sometimes the best way to love someone is from a distance.

It is possible to love someone without liking everything about them.

An ounce of conflict poisons an ocean of peace.

The brutal truth is often offensive, but a kind lie is more offensive.

I loved this episode but one thing I have long struggled with is the comment along the lines of ‘I can respect you but not agree with you or love you but not agree with you’ in regards to lgbtq people. LGBTQ is not just a lifestyle choice, they were born this way. That’s science. Saying you don’t agree with them but still love them is just as hurtful as showing outright disgust. It serves only to make the person making the comment feel better about their own biases.

This is a thoughtful comment, and is worth further exploration on the show. Would you be willing to send in a voice recording so we can discuss it on air?

I am 2/3rds into this episode and it may be one of my favorite Minimalists episodes once I complete it. Thank you so much, Josh, for organizing and moderating this discussion between TK and Destiny. I actually had never heard of Destiny before this (and I believe we are not aligned politically, etc.) but I found his answers so well thought out and persuasive. And I, of course, always love hearing from TK (a class act and someone who I learn from every time I listen and I was grateful I got to see him in person at the NYC show along with Josh, Ryan, and Seth Godin). I think a Part II is in order. Please invite Destiny back to the show.

So well done! My husband and I listened to the full private episode on our drive back from the beach. Toward the end, I turned to him and said, "Most people would be screaming at each other by now." More people need to have calm, respectful, difficult conversations like this.

I really enjoy this one. Thanks.

Not sure if I understood it correctly, but do you all think that all ”conspiracy theories” are made up and false?
