Interesting. I didn't realize Ep. 28 was a filler. Anyways, I'm glad you're enjoying Shippuden so far!

The clone fights wrapped up during Episode 28, after Sasori was already dead, so I don't think he's the one who made the clones.  In the manga, the clone fights ended off screen, so the anime showed us what the manga skipped.  I had forgotten because it's been so long since I watched the anime. This kinda reminds of me One Piece actually.  Certain events in the manga intentionally take place off screen so that the anime can fill in those gaps, similar to Episode 28 of Naruto Shippuden.  It kinda muddies the definition of "filler" since the manga mentions something without actually showing it. I'm glad we're now in an age where anime is usually only aired for a certain number of episodes before going on a break.  Releasing new episodes every week for years at a time, when a manga hasn't finished yet, is simply asking for trouble.

They defeated them by "becoming stronger than yesterday", literally. They realized their copies retained their strength level from the beginning of the fight, while they were worn off. So they literally DECIDED to become stronger than they were before the fight. Win by motivation, literally.

Kakashi is NOT one of the two mentioned by Itachi.

You’ll find out later how kakashi got the mongekyo sharingan and yet to see a reactor pick up on it in the scene
