Apparently some of you don't know what Grits are.  "Gritted corn" is a soft cereal dish, most commonly encountered in the Southeast United States.  It has a glutinous texture like porridge, except instead of oats it is made of corn (outside the US you probably call it maize.)  Grits are stored dry and have the consistency of sand.  To prepare them for eating, you mix them with water and bring it to a boil, then simmer until the sauce starts to thicken.  People have added all kinds of uncouth things to Grits, but the only proper way to serve them is:  Piping hot with butter and salt.

The Baron's alien-engineered "grits" have nothing to do with this process at all.

Interestingly enow, my first encounter with grits, biscuits and sausage gravy, and unsweet iced tea was at an airport cafe in Pacoima, CA (near where Jay Leno's Garage is filmed) ca. 1984. I've enjoyed all three ever since.

Uncouth? I always make grits with a scoop of jam in it.
