🔥👁️🔗 Long ago, in the shadow of the mighty Pyravolcano, there was a powerful sorcerer named Calindor. Consumed by a desire for unwavering loyalty, he sought a means to bind others to his will absolutely. It was in the scorching heart of the Pyravolcano that he forged the Circlet of Burning Thrall. This was no ordinary circlet; mingled with the volcanic ash and detailed with bronze, its central fiery, dark eye was believed to have once belonged to a rival sorcerer whom Calindor had thrown into the volcano as a sacrifice.

As legends tell, anyone bound by the circlet's command felt an insatiable drive to fulfill the sorcerer's bidding. Yet, with every hesitation, every falter, they would feel a burning pain—like the wrath of the volcano itself—scorching them from within. But Calindor’s cruelty didn’t stop at merely punishing those who failed him. The eye, ablaze with judgment, would pierce into the very essence of the wearer, demanding to know the reason for their shortcomings. 🔥👁️🔗

Circlet of Burning Thrall

Wondrous Item, legendary (requires attunement)

Forged from the mystical ash of an volcano, this circlet combines the ash's smoky hue with intricate bronze detailing. At its center lies an intense, fiery dark eye, said to be the eye of a forgotten sorcerer consumed by the very volcano from which the ash originates. The eye, while usually dormant, ignites with an inner blaze whenever its power is invoked.

Burning Thrall. As an action, you can target a creature you can see within 60 feet and command it using the circlet's power. If the creature can understand you, it must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 19) or be charmed by you for 24 hours.

While charmed in this way, the creature is bound to obey your command. Defiance results in immediate immolation, causing it to take 6d8 fire damage. Yet, this magical bond extracts its toll: every time the creature suffers this fiery punishment, you too are scorched, taking 1d8 fire damage.

Eye of Inquiry. Upon receiving fire damage from the Burning Thrall's effect, you cast the scrying spell on the affected target without the need for material components. This scrying last until the end of your next turn. During this period, the eye ignites intensely, rendering you blind to all but the visions it offers.

You can invoke the Burning Thrall once, recharging it after 1d4 days. The circlet's full might returns with the dawn.
