Born from a pact forged between ambitious warlocks and entities lurking just beyond our understanding, these rings became a symbol of the eternal bond and balance of power. The warlocks sought strength, and in return, the entities craved a foothold in our world. The result? A ring pulsing with raw magic and a ceaseless whisper, reflecting its insatiable thirst.

Over time, as stories do, the legend of these rings spread. Warlocks, both old and new, yearned for the power they promised. Some saw them as a tool, a means to enhance their arcane prowess. Others felt them as a challenge, a test of their will against the ring's persistent hunger.

While their true origin remains a topic of debate, the allure of the Ring of Eldritch Hunger is undeniable. It's said that every warlock who possesses one is bound by its tale, adding their own chapter to an ever-growing saga.

Ring of Eldritch Hunger

Ring, rare (requires attunement)

When worn, it binds to the skin, creating an almost organic connection between the ring and the wearer. A quiet, insistent whisper seems to come from nowhere and everywhere, hinting at a hunger that yearns to be sated.

Life Drain. When landing a successful spell attack on a creature, the wearer can opt to sap a fragment of the target's vitality. The target undertakes a Constitution saving throw (DC 15). Upon failing, the target loses 1d6 hit points, and the wearer regains hit points amounting to the loss sustained by the target.

Hunger's Demand. The ring craves magical essence. If the wearer neglects to cast at least one spell of 1st level or higher within a 24-hour period, their maximum hit points are reduced by 1d10. This reduction lasts until the wearer takes a long rest. The ring's hunger can be particularly dangerous, as any wearer reduced to 0 hit points by any means while wearing the ring meets an immediate and irreversible end. They die, no save.
