🐉⚔️⏳ When the mighty dragons held dominion over land, sea, and sky, the Nine Swords were conceived. These weren’t mere weapons, but symbols of unity and power, each reflecting the intricate bond between the mortal realms and the ancient wyrms.

A council of elder dragons, representing the myriad types and powers, met atop the summit of the World's Spine, a mountain range that crossed continents. Distressed by the escalating conflicts between dragonkind and the younger races, they sought a solution to ensure a balanced coexistence.

Under the guidance of the elder gold dragon, a plan was set in motion. Using their combined breaths, power, and ancient magic, they forged the Nine Swords. These blades were entrusted to chosen champions from the realms of mortals. With the essence of dragons bound within the swords, they were meant to serve as a bridge between man and dragon, signifying that the destinies of both were irrevocably intertwined.

For centuries, the bearers of these swords maintained peace, acting as ambassadors, guardians, and sometimes mediators. The swords, while mighty, were more than mere weapons; they were icons of unity, of a pact made at the dawn of an age, reminding all of the shared dream of a harmonious world. 🐉⚔️⏳

Prince Alzara's Blade

Weapon (shortsword), legendary (requires attunement by a spellcaster)

In the hands of its wielder, this sword reveals its beauty—a blade forged from obsidian that gleams like the night sky, ensnaring the gaze of any onlooker. Within its dark expanse, golden sands move as if alive, dancing and swirling, capturing timeless deserts and ageless hourglasses. Where the blade meets the hilt, a fervent crimson energy thrums, its heartbeat synchronized with the arcane.

The blade counts as an arcane focus. Spells you cast through Prince Alzara's Blade as an arcane focus gain a +2 bonus to their spell attack rolls and save DCs.

Dragon's Timefury. When you critically hit with this weapon, you can momentarily send the target forward in time, causing them to miss their next turn.

Spell Channeling. When you cast a spell with a casting time of 1 action, you may use a bonus action to make one attack with Prince Alzara's Blade.

Sentience. Prince Alzara's Blade is sentient with an Intelligence of 14, a Wisdom of 12, and a Charisma of 16. It has hearing and darkvision out to a range of 120 feet. The weapon can communicate with its wielder telepathically.

Personality. The blade has a regal and commanding presence. It values knowledge, especially that of history and arcane magic, and often urges its wielder to seek out such wisdom. It has a particular interest in dragons and the intricacies of time.

The Nine Swords

Each of these swords is a weapon of legend on its own, but their true potential awakens when they are brought together. Alone, they are formidable, but together, they form a symphony of unmatched might. A sword can sense its kin within a 30-foot radius.

Prince Alzara's Blade. By using a bonus action and speaking the command word, if another of The Nine Swords is within 30 feet, you can teleport to the location of the other sword. Additionally, the next spell you cast before the end of your next turn deals an extra 1d6 force damage. You regain the ability to activate this bonus at dawn.

Duchess Liora's Blade. By using a bonus action and speaking the command word, if another of The Nine Swords is within 30 feet, the blade shines brightly. On a successful hit before the end of your next turn, the opponent must make a Constitution saving throw (DC 18) or be blinded. Additionally, the next spell you cast before the end of your next turn deals an extra 1d6 radiant damage. You regain the ability to activate this bonus at dawn.

Lord Virel's Blade. By using a bonus action and speaking the command word, if another of The Nine Swords is within 30 feet, you can release a chain lightning effect. The chain lightning arcs toward a target of your choice that you can see within 60 feet. Three bolts then leap from that target to as many as three other targets, each of which must be within 30 feet of the first target. A target can be a creature or an object and can be targeted by only one of the bolts. A target must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC 18). On a failed save, the target takes 4d8 lightning damage, or half as much on a successful save. Additionally, the next spell you cast before the end of your next turn deals an extra 1d6 lightning damage. You regain the ability to activate this bonus at dawn.

Lady Thalira's Blade. By using a bonus action and speaking the command word, if another of The Nine Swords is within 30 feet, the animated vines on the blade attempt to grapple a target on a successful hit before the end of your next turn. Additionally, the next spell you cast before the end of your next turn deals an extra 1d12 poison damage. You regain the ability to activate this bonus at dawn.

Baron Urel's Blade. By using a bonus action and speaking the command word, if another of The Nine Swords is within 30 feet, you can attempt to pull an opponent closer. The target must make a Strength saving throw (DC 18). On a failed save, the target is pulled up to 10 feet closer to you and their movement speed is reduced by 10 feet until the end of their next turn. Additionally, the next spell you cast before the end of your next turn deals an extra 1d6 cold damage. You regain the ability to activate this bonus at dawn.

Countess Pyra's Blade. By using a bonus action and speaking the command word, if another of The Nine Swords is within 30 feet, the blade emits a burst of flame in a 15-foot cone originating from you. Creatures caught in this area must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC 18). On a failed save, a creature takes 4d6 fire damage, or half as much damage on a successful save. Additionally, the next spell you cast before the end of your next turn deals an extra 1d6 fire damage. You regain the ability to activate this bonus at dawn.

Sir Eclion's Blade. By using a bonus action and speaking the command word, if another of The Nine Swords is within 30 feet, the sentient shadow within Sir Eclion's Blade is roused. For your next melee attack before the end of your next turn, if you hit an opponent, the shadow attempts to sap their strength. The target must make a Constitution saving throw (DC 18). On a failed save, the target's attack rolls and damage rolls are reduced by 2d4 until the end of their next turn, as the shadow leeches away their vitality. This reduction does not stack with multiple hits. Additionally, the next spell you cast before the end of your next turn deals an extra 1d6 necrotic damage. You regain the ability to activate this bonus at dawn.

Lady Novala's Blade. By using a bonus action and speaking the command word, if another of The Nine Swords is within 30 feet, the heart of an ancient storm trapped within Lady Novala's Blade begins to pulse. For your next melee attack before the end of your next turn, if you hit an opponent, the storm's ancient memories flood into the mind of your adversary. The target must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 18). On a failed save, they are haunted by visions of forgotten tempests and ethereal gales, becoming incapacitated with the weight of ages for 1 minute. However, these visions are not only of destruction but also of renewal and change. If an ally touches the affected target before the start of your next turn, they are granted a vision of clarity, providing them with advantage on their next attack roll, ability check, or saving throw.

Thunder King's Blade. By using a bonus action and speaking the command word, if another of The Nine Swords is within 30 feet, the deep resonances of ancient tempests stir within the Thunder King's Blade. Until the end of your turn, any spell you cast that deals thunder damage has its damage output doubled. Additionally, creatures struck by these amplified spells are pushed back 5 feet for every 10 thunder damage dealt. You regain the ability to activate this bonus at dawn.
