Stay a while and listen, wanderer, for I bring tales from an age gone by. In times of old, there were those who donned the regalia of purest judgment, champions that stood resolute between chaos and order. Clad in midnight-black plate, they moved with the weight of choices made and not made, of destinies chosen and forsaken. Their cloaks obscured their visage, as if to say, the face of justice need not be seen, only felt.

In the heart of battle, when all seemed dire, these enigmatic guardians would rise, their presence alone quelling the fires of passion and hatred. As scales balanced between right and wrong, they, too, remained ever in balance, unyielding and steadfast.

And, dear traveler, whispered tales speak of one paragon among them, a beacon of righteousness, not born of our world yet bound to its fate. A force so potent, so unwavering, that even the stars seemed to pause in his wake. But ah, such are tales, and tales are not always truth... or are they? Seek the truth, adventurer, but tread carefully, for not all tales end as we wish them to.

Plate of the Equitable

Armor (plate), very rare (requires attunement)

This midnight-black plate armor is intricately woven with grains of sand that shimmer upon closer inspection.

Once per combat encounter, when struck by a foe, you can invoke the armor's power to analyze the attacker's fighting style. For the next 3 rounds, when that foe makes an attack roll against you, roll a d6:

  • On a roll of 1-5, you predict their action, granting them a disadvantage on their attack roll.
  • On a roll of 6, you misjudge, providing them with a fleeting advantage, granting them advantage on that attack.

Veil of Celestial Dominance

Wondrous Item (cloak), legendary (requires attunement)

This deep, ebony cloak shrouds its wearer in darkness, not only concealing them from sight but also shielding their intentions, making them a faceless arbiter of justice.

While wearing the cloak, creatures cannot gain advantage on attack rolls against you, as their prejudices, hatreds, and emotions are suppressed. Additionally, any divination spell that targets you or includes you in its area of effect fails, and the caster is made aware that the spell was blocked by a superior force of justice. However, should you make an erroneous judgment due to the Plate of the Equitable ability, this protection momentarily wavers, making you susceptible to such advantages and divinations until the start of your next turn.

Amulet of the Impartial Star

Wondrous Item (amulet), rare

This amulet, shaped like a radiant star, stands as a beacon of righteous judgment.

When you witness an action, you can call upon the amulet to judge its moral intent as a reaction. Once activated, for the next minute, you know if any visible creature within 60 feet of you has intentions to harm, deceive, or aid another creature. However, this does not reveal specifics but only general intent (harm, deceive, aid). After using this ability, you cannot use it again until next dawn.

3-Set Bonus: Decree of the Arbiter

When you or an ally is targeted by an effect that would deal damage, incapacitate, or impose a detrimental condition, you can invoke the full might of justice. Time briefly halts, allowing you to declare the action either "Just" or "Unjust."

  • If declared "Just," the action proceeds with a bonus. The damage or duration of the effect is maximized.
  • If declared "Unjust," the action is nullified, having no effect.

You regain the ability to activate this set bonus at dawn.
