EDWARD: Riddlerfan21 asks: Riddler, I just watched Necessary Evil, the documentary about DC villains. You were mentioned multiple times, one saying that you always leave clues because you WANT to be caught. Is this true? If so, why?

It would appear that I'm being laid out on the proverbial couch. I shall indulge you this once. Is this true? To put it simply, no. Do I want to be caught? (chuckles) No. If I truly wanted to be caught, I would be more like to intentionally make a fatal mistake, or a deliberate oversight, hoping that the forces of good would catch me red-handed, as it were. My riddles transcend such simplistic endeavours. My riddles are a test of will, and obviously intelligence. To say the purpose of my riddles is to be caught, is too simplistic. If you wish to break it down, they serve as a tool to discover who is worthy enough to ATTEMPT to catch me. I like to think of myself as a relatively fair man, and as such I like to give the white knights of Gotham something that most Rogues don't: a chance. If you can solve my riddles fast enough and thwart my plans, then well done. (claps) Gotham is safe for another night. To assume that I want to be caught would cast me in a rather penitent shadow, as though I were screaming my guilt to the heavens, begging for apprehension and admonishment. This is not the case. I am simply here to be the best.
