TRS - Casefile #0107

EDWARD: Amashi-zaino asks: Dear Riddler. I know that this might not be the best riddle, but a friend of mine from Mensa told it to me once. He said that it needs some revision I want to ask the master. Who better to ask than the Prince of Puzzles? 50 is my first, nothing is my second, a snake will make my third, three parts a cross is reckoned. To find out what I am put all my parts together. I am all your past and you fear me in cold weather. What am I? If you get lost I'll be happy to give you a hint.

I can't help but find this terribly amusing. You know I'm the Prince of Puzzles, and yet you STILL send me this. Aside from the burn of sending me a classic, you also offer your assistance if I (laughs) if I get lost. Oh, thank you! Your assistance is surely needed for such a masterful riddle. Please. The answer is LOST, and you misquoted it slightly, but that's alright. Personally, I feel as though riddles are like poetry, and if you can't say 'em right, don't bother. It's just something of a spit in the face to its creator, who in this case, is Kit Williams. But that may just be me - moving on. I'm going to a fancy dress party tonight at Gotham Museum of Art, so I'll break this down for you quickly: 50 is my first, the Roman symbol for 50 is an L. Nothing is my second, nothing, zero, O. Still with me? A snake will make my third, snake starts with an S, and notorious for the delightful 'ssss' hissing sound they make. Then three parts a cross is reckoned, a cross looks like a T - you got it. So sorry that you and your Mensa friend couldn't pull the proverbial rug out from beneath my brains and subsequent ego, but you've got to get up VERY early to beat me. The only reason I'm not the KING of Puzzles is because that sounds stupid.
