Fantastic entry, Everett. I took heart when you mentioned you want to shift away from purely military episodes for a bit after the dramatic campaigns of 1806-7. I'd especially love to hear your take on the rise of nationalisms in various parts of Europe during this time, along with the reforms in the Prussian and Austrian state following their humiliations under Napoleon. In other words, how Europe changed in the wake of Napoleon.

Question for the next dispatch - do you think Napoleon was aware of the rivalries and bickering amongst his marshals? If so, do you know if he tried to do anything to prevent it? Obviously we’ve seen instances where bickering has had negative consequences for the Grand Armée, and Napoleon has pulled up his marshals for their actions, but it hasn’t been quite clear whether he was aware this behaviour was necessarily due to ego and rivalries, and whether he factored this into his disciplinary responses.
