After their defeats at Jena and Auerstedt, the vaunted Prussian army collapsed in the face of Napoleon's onslaught. As the French pushed into the heart of Central Europe, their presence began to awaken complicated nationalist feelings on both sides.

It sounds stupid, but for a long time I relished the French victories over the Prussians more than other countries - I didn't really know why, but now I think it's because I unconsciously accepted some of the French prejudices you mention in the episode. I value this ep particularly because it reminds me that Prussians/Germans *did* have legitimate grievances for how their people were treated by French soldiers, it wasn't all just chest-beating Prussian propaganda. So thanks for widening my perspective in this way.
