First Barbecue Party in the Territory of Jiernetta Kingdom

"Well, thank you all so much for your hard work today! I wanted to do my best to at least give you some labor, and I did my best to take down the Dark Tiger! We also took down a Great Rock Scorpion and a Hekaton Bear, so let's eat as much as we can today and nourish our spirits!"

As he greeted the barbecue, Dee and the others took that as their cue to pull a horse-drawn cart with a large magical beast on the back. When four carriages with four horses entered, even the highly skilled members of the knightly order were making a lot of noise.

"A Great Rock Scorpion...!"

"No, no, the Dark Tiger and the Hekaton Bear, are also dangerous magical beasts that would be challenged by more than a thousand members of the knightly order!"

"But it would be impossible to defeat that hard rock scorpion without a fire magician, wouldn't it?

Voices like these could be heard everywhere. Although I did not count the number of people exactly, I felt that the population density had increased tremendously when it exceeded several thousand people.

Well, no matter how huge it is, it can't be helped that the population density actually increases when so many people gather on the grounds of a fortress.

There is a story that 50,000 people gathered at once in the Watara Dome, but when I think about it again, it is an extraordinary number of people.

Thinking about this, I looked around at the people gathered there.

In the front row were the nobles, magicians, and knight commanders, in the back were their platoon leaders and other commanders, and further back were the ordinary soldiers lined up around the fire.

Because it had taken so long to prepare, many of them looked as if they were about to take a bite of the raw meat.

"...Then, let's have a barbecue contest! Let's each skewer some meat, grill it, and eat it!"

With these words, he held up the skewer with the meat already on it, and a loud cheer went up, especially from the soldiers.

I guess they had run out of patience. The soldiers were the first to pick up the skewers and start grilling the meat. As the delicious smell of roasting meat began to waft around the area, some of them already started to take a bite.

"Oh, we have salt for seasoning! We couldn't prepare much else because of the distance, but please season with salt!"

After informing them about the seasoning, I start eating, too. Bear meat is said to be a high-end wild game, and it's moderately tasty. No, I ate it for the first time today, but it is similar to pork with less fat. I wonder if it is different from the bear meat of the earth.

As I was thinking about this while eating, I saw the nobles quickly swarming around the scorpion meat.

"It's been a long time since I've had rock scorpion. How about you, my lord?"

"No, I am ashamed to say that I have never even seen it before."

"Oh, yes, it is a delicacy, you must try it.

The scorpion meat is very exciting. The meat looks like shrimp or crab, so it would be unusual to think of it as a mountain delicacy.

It is an interesting discovery that a completely different species of scorpion from the ones caught near Seat Village inhabits the area. This may mean that we may have to investigate the sea-side magical beasts as well.

"Van-sama! Have you eaten scorpion meat?"

Camsin approached with a twinkle in his eye. In his hands he clutched several skewers of freshly roasted rock scorpion meat.

Apparently, he had grilled it for us to eat. Tyll and Arte look at each other and laugh at the sight of him.

"Thank you. I hadn't eaten yet."

"May I have some, too?"

Camsin, a little excited, lowered himself to the ground and offered us a skewer. I gladly accepted and was excited to see that it tasted just like crab, as I had expected.

For a while after that, we were enjoying the barbecue party, when suddenly we heard the urgent voices of soldiers on the Wolfsburg Mountains side.

"It's a magic beast...! Horned boars are coming down the cliff in packs...! The number is said to be about fifty!"

A sentry shouts something from the top of the castle wall, and a messenger comes to report to us with a pale face.

It was a messenger from another knighthood, but the leaders of each knighthood heard the message and quickly began to move.

"Stanza Knights! Prepare quickly and form up in front of the city walls!"

"Knights of Pinin! Prepare in heavy armor!"

"Knights of Farina! Prepare the horses! Magicians, prepare to cover!"

While each of the knights hurriedly issued instructions, the Seat Village Knights, looking accustomed to the situation, ran to the ramparts and quickly prepared a few ballistas and mechanical bows.

And by the time the barbecue site was sparse, and the soldiers had gathered around the castle walls, a new report reached me as I was grilling the meat.

"Va, Baron Van's Knights have completed the subjugation of the magic beasts...!"

The remaining nobles in the hall widen their eyes in astonishment as the messenger comes to report.

"Hey, let's make sure our report is accurate! It's Horned Boars! We're not supposed to kill them, we're supposed to repel them!"

"The current report makes it sound as if Sir Van's private army was the only one that took it down!"

The messenger bowed his head deeply again and opened his mouth.

"Yes, that is correct! All the magic beasts have been defeated by Baron Van's Knights on their own! Not repelled, but subjugated...!"

The messenger reported again, and this time all the nobles were silent. I looked at them sideways and asked Tyll for a favor.

"Oh, please, bring me another cup of tea!"

"Yes, I'll bring it right away."
