At North Street

"Master Mina, you have found it."

While I was checking out the history books section, Rilfana came in with a book.

"It's a biography of a hero who is said to have existed in the past. It was classified as a novel in the form of a creative work about that hero."

The title of the book is "The Wielder of the Magic Sword". It looks like an old book that has been sitting around for quite some time, and the ink has faded considerably.

I received the book from Rilfana and skimmed through it. It was a story about a hero who uses a magic sword to solve various cases. From the setting and descriptions, it is definitely a fantasy novel fantasy.

What I was interested in was the detailed description of the flow of magic power, which was similar to the way I feel about using a magic sword.

This book must have been written by a reincarnated player who is a magic warrior or knows magic warriors.

"Thanks, I couldn't find it in the history book and the martial arts book, so you can look at the rest as you like."

"Okay, I understand, please let me know if you need anything else."

Rilfana seemed to go back to the fiction section.

Older novels and biographies might tell us more about reincarnated players than history books. The problem, though, is that they were written just for reading, so they don't always contain the information you need.

After skimming through the rest of the similar history books, I decided to read the book "The Wizard of the Magic Sword" that Rilfana brought with her. The book doesn't have too many pages, so it would take me an hour to finish it.

"Big Sis, can I stop by the bookstore on my way home?"

"I think I'll buy it too."

"I'm torn too."

I joined him casually, though I did not show it, as if I had run out of books to read or had run out of concentration.

I wondered if there was a good book, a book I had been reading at the library and Claire wanted to keep.

The library does not have books that can be checked out, so if she wanted to read it at home, she would have to buy the same book.

Rilfana also seemed to be interested in a novel and was mulling it over with her hand on her cheek. This kind of gesture is very ladylike, isn't it? The fact that she does it without being aware of it is even more so.

Life in the village has a lot of free time, so it's good to buy more books. If you put them in your magic bag, you won't feel the weight.

When I read "The Wielder of the Magic Sword," I realized that although it is a novel, it is written like a how-to book on how to use a magic sword, if you know how to use a magic sword. I know how to use a magic sword itself, but it could be used for application.

I don't know if they sell this book because it is old, but I couldn't find volume 2 at the library, even though the end seemed to have a sequel. If the bookstore has it, I would buy it.

"There was a larger bookstore on the way back to North Street, wasn't there?"

"Yeah, maybe it's made for people who stop by on their way home from the library."

I got my deposit back from the receptionist, and we decided to stop by the bookstore. We walked back the way we came from the inn.

A short time after leaving the library, we pass a group of people in metal armor on horseback. All of them were wearing dark gray armor with a shiny sheen peculiar to metal. The group proceeded down the road in a single, disciplined, unbroken formation. Their helmets obscured their expressions, but their movements showed no sign of fatigue.

"You are knights of the House of Howling, I presume."

"Of this domain? Rilfana-chan, how can you tell?"

"You have the Howling family crest on your armor and harness. I did a little research in the library earlier.

"You don't seem to be in a hurry, so maybe you're just patrolling the town?"

"I think he's just back from the high street, Big Sis, since his horse's feet were muddy and dirty."

"The area is too small for a nobleman's estate to be a noble town, so the knights may have their headquarters nearby."

It had never occurred to me to check the coat of arms of a noble's house. It must be a viewpoint unique to nobles.

Claire seems to be watching her surroundings very carefully. Of course, I wasn't looking at the horse's legs.

After passing the knights, I walked a little and arrived at a bookstore. It was just off North Street, and I could see the street from here.

As we did yesterday, we decided to look for what we wanted to see.

Claire walked to the magic book section. I went to the novel section with Rilfana, who had the same goal.

"Rilfana, you will have a lot of free time in the village, so you can buy more books. I also have a magic bag."

"Then, I will do so."

Rilfana was still undecided about the book, so I decided to go see Claire.

"Oh, Big Sis, what happened?"

"I found one for myself, I just wanted to see how it looked."

"I think I'm going to get this one or this one, which one do you think?"

The two books that Claire was struggling with.

The two books that Claire was torn between were "An Introduction to Magic Starting with Life Magic" and "Easy Magic Enhancement with Life Magic.

"I read in a book at the library that if you continue to use life magic, your magic manipulation skills and magic power will increase. I only have two magic skills that I learned from my mom, so I'm thinking of increasing them."

SeveChro also incorporated a level system for skills. As you continued to use a skill, it would grow and level up to become more powerful and effective. Accompanying this was an increase in stamina for physical skills like swordsmanship and archery, and an increase in magical power for magical skills.

Does this mean that this is also possible with life magic?

I think there is a higher possibility that it can be done.

Based on this, my only answer is this: "There is a lot of magic that I don't remember.

"Why don't you just choose the one with more unlearned magic?"

It would be more efficient to keep using multiple skills and raising skill levels.

"I see, I'll do that."

The "Introduction to Magic Starting with Life Magic" seemed to win in terms of magic types, and Claire put the other book back in its place.

"Lady Mina, I bought it for you."

I remembered that I had told Rilfana at the bookstore yesterday that she could buy the book from the money she had transferred to her card.

It seems that this bookstore allowed payment from guild cards, and Rilfana purchased from her own card deposit.

I paid for Claire's books along with mine, and put Rilfana's books in the magic bag. It would be heavy to put many books in a backpack, and they would get wet if it rained.

As I was walking along North Street after leaving the bookstore, I saw a horse-drawn carriage driving by at a very fast speed.

--the timing and position were bad.

It was after it had rained, so the wheels plowed into a puddle of water and splashed up a bashful of muddy water. Only the carriage didn't.

"Kyah!"

Rilfana, who was walking on the middle side of the sidewalk, was splashed by the splashing muddy water. She was covered in mud, though the damage was only to her shoes and skirt since she didn't jump very high.

I was in the shadow of Rilfana and Claire was behind me, so I didn't get dirty.

The carriage did not stop, but slowed down temporarily. At that moment, a young man jumped down from the carriage and came running toward us. As soon as the man dismounted, the carriage picked up speed and exited toward the ring road in the northwestern district.

"My lady, I am sorry."

The man, who must have gotten off to apologize, was dressed in what looked like a tailcoat. He was probably one of the stewards of the house that was now riding in the carriage.

"I was bought by Master Mina..."

Rilfana looks like she is about to cry. Her skirt is so badly stained with mud that it may not come off clean even if she washes it.

I guess it was a blessing in disguise that she didn't get her pouch and backpack wet.

The man seemed to notice Rilfana's "slave collar bracelet" and bowed to me as well.

"I am sorry. I would like to invite you to my house to apologize, but it is difficult to do so. I am truly sorry, but please buy it back here for him."

He put two large silver coins in my hand.

I understand that he wanted to give me more money for the trouble, but it was a lot of money to pay for the clothes. The skirt in particular will need to be repurchased, but I think the shoes will be fine if I wash them. Even if I were to buy both, a large silver coin would be more than enough change for the shoes and skirt.

"I'm glad you're willing to pay for it, but what's the rush?"

"Well, that's the thing. The Chamber of Commerce was informed that your wife had given birth, and since it was her first child, the master was in a hurry to leave..."

I see.

Getting angry here doesn't make Rilfana's clothes any cleaner.

Rilfana doesn't seem to be unconvinced by the reason and the apology.

"I understand. I'll repurchase with this, Rilfana okay?"

But just because he was convinced didn't mean he would immediately calm down. Still, Rilfana nodded, her eyes watering.

"If you need anything else, please stop by the Valdia Trading Company."

The butler bowed his head repeatedly, but ran toward the northwestern district where the carriage was headed.

"For now, let's go back to the inn and change."

"...Yes."

"Rilfana-chan..."

Claire patted Rilfana's head and held her hand.

Actually, Rilfana is older than me, but Claire looks more like an older sister.
