Sanctuary of the Dark God

The darkness where nothing can be seen. Is it a place where no light enters?

"Kukuku, welcome to my castle."

I was in a large room. There was a red carpet, and at the end of it was a throne.

The candelabras on the wall were lit, starting with the one closest to me, and then bubbling over.

Ah, this is the kind of lighting that is often seen in old video games before the final boss battle.

Beyond the candelabra, I saw a handsome man with the same face as the god statue I had just seen. The god statue had no color, but the man himself seemed to have black hair and eyes. He is clad in thin metal armor and a military uniform called a surcoat.

The god of darkness was seated on a throne. A scythe is propped up on the throne.

"My name is Stellatio. Let us enjoy this momentary encounter together."

It seems that the name of the dark god with jet-black hair is Stellatio. ...I don't care if he's handsome.

--By the way, is the God of Darkness suffering from some kind of puberty-related illness?

Perhaps it was because I had been so absent-minded, but he got up from his throne and walked toward me. When he got close to me, he snapped his fingers. A table and chairs appeared between me and the handsome man.

"It is the custom in this jet-black castle to give my grace to my guests."

Ikemen poured coffee into a mug from a coffee pot he had been carrying for some time and placed it in front of me.

"You...you are a reincarnated person, aren't you? For some reason, reincarnated people who encounter me always have that look on their faces. I also know that some of them stare into the distance afterwards, and some of them smile!"

Was it a look like looking at something smiling? Somehow the handsome guy with the slightly disappointed face looked cute.

"Hmm, oh well. You can have a cup of coffee made by my own hands for now."

"Yes, thank you."

I sat down and drank my coffee. It was sweet and easy to drink, even though there was no sugar or milk in it. My body was momentarily enveloped in a dim light.

"Well, you've already met Teleneta. Then you can have this too."

Out of nowhere, I pulled out a baked good, a cookie.

Then he took a sip of the coffee he had newly made for himself and got teary-eyed, "I should have made it sweeter..." I should just let him go through with it.

It would be too much trouble if I said something strange.

I took a bite of the cookie and it fell apart in my mouth. The sweetness of the sugar is tempered by the bitterness of the coffee, giving the cookie an indescribable depth of flavor.

...It's not bad, but it's not good either. Normal?

"Well, I don't know..."

"Maybe it would taste better with a little more sugar."

"Hmm, I'll leave it in my Akashic Records."

It's just a notepad, thank you very much.

I mean, are these cookies handmade by God?

The moment I ate the cookie, I remembered the conversation I had with Mina when I came to this world.

I remember....

"...In accordance with my promise to the Goddess, Mina will give you back your body. With this, the ancient civilization of Virtilia..."

...Does this mean that Mina knew about the ancient civilization?

Does that mean anything? No, Master Terenator only said "if you are interested", so this memory itself may not be important information.

"Is something wrong?"

"No, I was told by Terenator-sama that my memory and abilities were not correct at the time of my reincarnation..."

"...You are a child of chaos, I'll give it a try..."

The handsome man held out his hand to me, and a black mist-like mist drifted around me. After a while, it disappeared like a blinking light.

"What's this?"

"I removed one of the keys. Or rather, I made it easier to remove. Teleneta seems to have gone to a lot of trouble. All I can do is to string Ariadne along."

The handsome language is difficult.

The key could be taken to mean that it is easier to raise your level or status, but I wonder if it means that from the latter half of the year, he created a guide for other gods.

"I have done what I must do. Now, you may tell me what is going on down there."

The handsome man gazes at me with sparkling eyes. By "what's going on down there," I mean my daily life, right?

Then, just like with Lady Teleneta, he made me talk about my everyday life while eating cookies. Are the gods hungry for entertainment or people?

...These cookies were subtle at first, but as I ate them, I couldn't help but pick up another one. Maybe it's because they are refreshing and easy to eat.

I wonder if they thought that much about it when they made them.

"Well, it looks like it's time to say goodbye. I enjoyed it very much. Thank you for this meeting."

The handsome man took out his pocket watch and checked the time.

It seemed to be time to say goodbye when the conversation took a break, and the vision gradually darkened as the handsome man snapped his fingers again.

◇

I was back in the cathedral.

Speaking of which, it seems that I didn't get the cheat ability after all. It's a shame.

The most important thing to remember is that you can't get a better deal than this. It seems that the time has not passed since the last time.

Suddenly, Claire and Rilfana opened their eyes at the same time. They are looking around curiously.

"Hey, sis. Have you ever met Lady Teleneta?"

"Did Claire get invited too?"

"Umm, yes. She gave me a cup of tea. She seemed to know you when we talked."

"I was invited by Fimelita."

All three seemed to have been called by different gods.

Claire was given a cup of tea and asked a few questions about the use of magic, but mostly they just talked about everyday life. Claire felt like she received some kind of blessing when she drank the tea, but she didn't really feel it herself.

Fimelita, the name of the goddess of the wind, is the name of the woman who called Rilfana.

She seemed to be a gossipy person and had heard many stories. She was served tea and told a one-sided story, which did not seem to be particularly useful. It seems that some gods like to talk more than listen.

After leaving the church, we decided to continue along the circular road to South Street.

I picked up Claire and Rilfana's clothes at the clothing store yesterday.

I might as well look at my own clothes while I'm at it. There were clothing stores on West and East Streets, but they were a step behind in terms of selection and price.

"Welcome!"

I heard the sound of a bell ringing as I entered the store. Just like yesterday, an elf shopkeeper wearing an apron came out.

"Ah, customer, the reworking is finished."

"Thank you. I'd like to see my own clothes, so I'll pick them up afterwards."

"Okay, I'll get it ready. I'll get them ready for you.

After having looked at the other clothing stores on the street, I was reminded of the amazing selection in this store.

The clothes are laid out in rows and rows, and the density of merchandise is completely different from other stores. The only drawback is that it is difficult to walk down the aisles...

"I think you look good in this kind of thing, don't you, sister?"

Claire brought a navy trench coat. She had picked out my outfit for me.

Rilfana seems to be browsing the section of jackets for adventurers that are blade-proof. She is checking the quality of the leather by touching it.

"I think the beige one is safer, since it's easy to use in spring as well."

"Do you change with the seasons?"

Even though it's more affordable than I thought, for most of us it's not affordable enough to buy several pieces for each season. In this world, only the wealthy and aristocrats can afford to spend that much on fashion.

To begin with, the winters in Feld Village are so short that they don't get that cold, so they might as well use it until early spring.

"Well, I just thought there might be some people like that."

"I see. There might be some in town."

I'm glad my deception got through.

"Since it's a good opportunity, I think I'll buy this coat."

"Yes!"

Claire picked out this coat for me, so I think I'll buy it anyway.

I also picked out an ankle-length dress to match it. Neither of them need any adjustments, so I can take them home with me as long as I pay for them.

"Thank you very much!"

I also received yesterday's alterations and tossed them into my magic bag. If I was creative in the way I folded them, I could even fit the clothes in the pouch-type bag.

Claire was probably happy that I bought the coat she chose, and for a while she had a big smile on her face.

"Claire, did something good happen to you?"

Rilfana seemed to have bought something for herself and took the bag and put it in her backpack.

I asked her if she wanted to put it in her magic bag, but she said it didn't seem too heavy and she would carry it herself.

As we left the store and were walking back to the central square, the bell rang for 1 PM.

"Let's take a break and have a snack!"
