Speculation Failed?

At the order of His Majesty, roads were built and bases were constructed. I was asked to make it possible to lock the door from the inside, so I even made it easy to lock the door from inside.

After spending the first, second, and third days in this way, we quickly caught up and even surpassed the planned pace of the mountain march.

"...Huh? Come to think of it, there's no more talk about the temporary base collapsing, is there?"

Till, who was sitting in the coach's driver's seat, blinked and replied.

"Oh, yes. I've only heard that the march is much easier now thanks to Van-sama. After all, wasn't there some kind of mistake?"

Till answered, and Camsin, walking by the carriage, nodded deeply.

"Yes, Van-sama's products have never been defective. Everyone knows it's a lie."

"No, if it was a failure in the design stage, it would be defective. I can't say for sure yet."

I reply with a wry smile at Camsin's blind faith in what I have made. Then Arte peeks out of the carriage window.

"Van-sama, Murcia-sama has arrived from the back."

"Brother Murcia?"

Startled by Arte's words, I stopped halfway on the pavement and turned to look behind me. Immediately, Camsin came to my side and wiped the sweat from my forehead.

I see Murcia walking with his knights from the back of the newly built road. Incidentally, Arte looks adorable as she peeks out of the carriage window.

"Murcia-sama."

Arte, Till, and Camsin bow their heads in greeting; Murcia responds to Till and Camsin by raising one hand and turning his body front toward Arte to greet her.

"Miss Arte. It has been a long time."

Murcia greeted her with a good-natured, if not aristocratic, smile, and Arte returned the greeting with a relieved look on her face. After a word or two of the customary greeting, he immediately turned to me.

"Van, are you all right?"

"What's wrong, brother, coming over all of a sudden?"

I tilted my head and asked back.

Murcia also felt it was too abrupt, and nodded shallowly before rephrasing.

"Sorry. I didn't even greet you."

"No, no, that's okay. So, did something happen?"

When I checked again, Murcia looked at me seriously.

"I thought Van might be overworking himself...the roads were being built at such a fast pace that I was worried about you. Well, when I came to see you, you were so normal that I was surprised to see the opposite."

Murcia chuckled when he said so. This was very regrettable. It would be sad if people thought that I was fine because I looked fine.

So I express my great dissatisfaction.

"I'm tired! Between breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, I'm paving roads and building bases all the time. We work full time even after eating, having a snack, and... the only good part is that the food is good, but I'd like to take a half-day break."

I told him, complaining about the working environment. To which Murcia gives a dumbfounded look.

"I was worried that you might collapse from using too much magic, but it looks like you're doing fine. You look better than I thought you would, which is a relief."

For some reason, Murcia didn't follow through with my complaint. I made a frustrated face with my mouth agape, but Murcia chuckled and turned to me.

"...I'm sure you've noticed, but there are those who are jealous that Van is favored by His Majesty. To be honest, our father, Marquis Jalpa, is probably one of them."

Dropping the tone of his voice, Murcia uttered a warning. You are going out of your way to tell me something about Jalpa, even though he would likely glare at you if he found out.

He is a very good-natured brother.

I smiled at the thought and tried to reassure Murcia.

"Don't worry. I have the Seat Village Knights guarding my perimeter at all times, and I have Dee keeping an eye on the other Knights from a little further back. I have a sturdy base for myself to rest at night, so I won't be harassed. Well, I'm sure they don't want the march to stop, so I'm sure they'll be fine in that sense too."

After all, we are marching to war against another country. they can't do anything that would slow down our march, which I was a key part of. If something were to happen, His Majesty would not remain silent.

I answered with such an implication, though I didn't put everything into words. Murcia, perhaps satisfied with that, returned a nod.

"I see. If you're that careful, I guess you'll be fine. At any rate, it seems that Lord Panamera is checking behind the scenes to see if there are any abnormalities at the base, so I think there is little chance of any problems occurring at the base in the future."

"I see. Thank you for worrying about me."

Since it was Murcia, I was sure he was checking to see if anything had been done to the base himself.

I frankly, but with few words, expressed my gratitude. After all, the knights guarding Murcia were also Jalpa's subordinates. A bad comment would make Murcia's position worse.

Well, since His Majesty had said something to Jalpa about Murcia's future, maybe I don't have to worry about it anymore, but as long as it's not a done deal, I can't make a judgment on my own.

"...We're both in a lot of trouble, aren't we, brother Murcia?"

Murcia blinked a second and a third time as I muttered this with a wry smile, we laughed.
