Small Dinner Party

The menu consisted mainly of summer vegetables, but there was also the "Mock Curry" that I had taught my mother. It was less spicy than the last time and tasted just right.

"This spiciness is addictive."

"Just because it's rare doesn't mean you can't try the others."

Mirell likes it so much that he eats it for a few days.

"No, I don't want to regret it when I die. But I can only eat this today. Too bad."

Mirell-san seemed to like it a lot, and after picking a few bites of food, he was eating only the curry. Gina-san was getting angry with him, telling him to eat calmly and not to spill his food. I guess he takes good care of them.

"You guys are still the same as usual."

"Hmm, Mark too."

Dad, who was watching the three of them, muttered as if sighing.

"I'm sorry, I've been so busy that I haven't been able to come over."

"No, I'm the one who asked to leave the party because I'm getting married. It's nothing to worry about."

I didn't think you'd be so busy once you got your A's."

I heard Alphos was given a title.

"I kept getting requests, and before I knew it, I was being honored by the king..."

"Now he's Alphos Wyrm Slayer-sama."

"Bwahaha. That doesn't suit me!"

Dad spewed his drink at Mirell's musings. Apparently, the adventurers were some of Dad's old adventuring buddies, and now they were A-list knights. Well, maybe they are very famous.

Incidentally, when adventurers and knights receive knighthoods for their achievements, it is not compulsory, but it is common practice to treat the title as a family name.

Wyrm is a type of dragon that appeared in a dungeon at level 70 or so. It is similar to a large lizard, but instead of having no wings, it has strong strength and instantaneous power. There are many subspecies, so I don't know how strong Wyrm was when I killed it.

"When I returned to the guild after work, there was talk of a survey of the ruins in Feld village."

"We forced our way in to see Mark's face for the first time in a while. It was easy for us to get the job because he said he found a Living Statue."

"Well, no one in the guild wanted to take it because they said it was too dangerous, but those things aren't a threat to us."

"Well, I'm looking forward to it."

Didn't father tell them that we defeated the Living Statue?

They probably don't think the villagers can beat it.

...Either way, there might still be Living Statues left in that place at the deeper end, so it would take a skilled person to get close to them.

I enjoyed listening to my father's tales of the past and the wondrous adventures of Alphos-San and the others.

Both Claire and I were intrigued by the stories of the outside world, which we rarely hear, and we enjoyed their tales of adventure.

After we finished eating and my mother finished serving after-dinner tea, Claire and I went back to the house.

"Well, about tomorrow's survey, I guess that means the three of us will be joined by Mark and Mina-chan, right?"

"Yeah, Mina and Claire did the search first, Mina can show us around."

"It's good that they noticed the statue Living Statue and came back. I don't know what would have happened if it was not found earlier..."

"Hmm? I thought you said you were able to defeat the Living Statue."

This is the meeting before tomorrow's exploration. Not only equipment and tools, but also knowledge sharing, is an important part of the preparation.

A novice party could fail or even be wiped out if they neglected to do so.

"Mark was there too? I still think it would be difficult..."

"No, Mina said she beat it by herself, Claire picked this up."

Dad said and put the glass ball from the Drop Item on the table, surprising the three of us. ...I knew that.

"No, no, did she not pick it up by accident?"

"Well, sometimes Drop Items fall out when demons destroy themselves by a trap or starvation, or when demons destroy each other."

"I didn't see my daughters actually fighting, either. If that's the opinion of an active adventurer, then maybe that's what happened."

Alphos-san and the others seemed to think that we had picked up the item by accident but decided to beat them on our own when we reported it.

My father, who looked a little bored, didn't seem to want to be persuaded, and we agreed to talk with him.

Originally, I was told not to explain to him if he suspected that I had picked up a Drop Item, but to just go along with his story.

He said it would be troublesome to explain, but if he is not asked, he may want to keep the existence of the magic sword hidden. I felt that they simply wanted to hide it out of mischievousness.

I am just a guide, so there is no problem if I keep quiet.

After that, I explained as much as I could remember about the ruins, that it looked like a church, that it was made of stone, and so on.

Yesterday, I shared what I remembered with Claire, so I think I was able to explain almost everything.

Tomorrow morning, we will go to explore the ruins and reconfirm the area that Claire and I explored.

After that, we will go to the room where the statue of Living Statue was. I also agreed to go along with the search, as long as I did what they told me to do.

Alphos-san and the others were going to take care of the tools and equipment.

"And I'll give this to Mina-chan. I'll teach her how to wear it, and if you have any questions, just ask Mark."

"Thank you!"

"I'll give it to you as a gift, and you don't have to give it back to me when the survey is over."

I heard that Gina-san had prepared my protective gear.

A simple leather armor with breastplate and elbow pads. Armor undergarments made of slightly thicker fabric. Boots that went down to my knees.

Gina-san and Mirell-san checked the size of the armor and adjusted it accordingly.

I heard that leather armor can be adjusted to some extent by the way the strings are tied. Basically, it seems that if you tie the strings tightly in order on top of the clothes, you can put it on.

"Oh, that's right. Do you know where this gold coin came from? I found it in an abandoned building, but my dad says he doesn't know it's an engraving."

"Well, this is..."

I asked Alphos-san and the others to take a look at the gold coin I had found in the ruins.

Mirell-san picked it up and examined it.

"This engraving is a Gold Coin from an ancient civilization. It is about the same size as one large gold coin today. This one is well-preserved and beautiful, so it might be a bit more expensive."

"Well, if you found it in a ruin, that means it might still be there."

Alphos-san and the others laughed in each other's faces, saying that it looked more promising than they had expected.

Mirell-san returned the gold coins to me, telling me that if I wanted to use them, I could exchange them for cash at the Adventurers' Guild in town. The Adventurers' Guild would buy them at a fair price, even if they didn't know anything about it.

After that, we continued chatting, but then he left, saying that he was going to stay at the village chief's house today. No alcohol because we will start exploring tomorrow.

After a while, the time passed by.

Time passed by and it was already dark.

When I entered the house with my father, my mother and Claire were still awake. We had a cup of tea and decided to take the rest of the day off.

"Big Sis, please remember to bring back some souvenirs for me."

"Yes, yes, I know. Claire, didn't you want to go with us?"

"If you want to show them around, it's safer for Big Sis to go with them, and I wouldn't be much of a help if I followed along."

"You can use recovery magic, so I'm sure you'll be fine."

"I don't think they will take me anyway, so it's either Big Sis or me. I'll give it to Big Sis this time."

"I see, thanks."

I went to bed to get ready for tomorrow, and Claire asked for a souvenir, and I guess Claire was curious to know what was going on down there, too.

I told Claire the value of the gold coins that Mirell-san had taught me, and she was surprised.

We have only ever spent small silver coins at most, but that is a lot of money for us.
