Eh, I have to Go?

A cup of tea is placed next to it and a pancake-like pastry is prepared.

In this state, I create weapons with the lumps of iron that are handed to me. With the Dwarven furnace not yet fully operational, I am the best weapon production factory. I intend to make weapons gracefully while sipping tea and sweets.

"Ah, Van-sama, it's almost time to make today's request: thirty swords, ten spears, and twenty shields."

"Haven't I already made that many? Fine, I'll personally be modifying the mechanical bows when I'm done."

"Van-sama, you will get tired if you work that hard in a row. Why don't you go to the public bath first and take a break?"

"Oh, a bath sounds great! Can you bring me some cold fruit water, as well?"

"Yes, of course!"

Till and Camsin and I continue to work on the armors while chatting amicably. It is a happy village scene with constant laughter. I would be happy if days like this could continue.

Then, an unwanted intruder appears in such a peaceful afternoon. It is a sweaty knight on a horse who seems to be out of breath. I suddenly feel as if I have been thrown into a serious world. The fact that I was working in an adventurer's town, as well as the fact that the knight's cloak had the crest of the kingdom's army on it, was probably the reason he was able to visit me alone.

"Va, Van, -sama...!"

An uncle riding a horse, who was out of breath, called my name in a gasping voice.

"A, are you all right? Did something go wrong on the march...?"

I tried my best to make a serious face and reply. No, no. My mind is in the mode of wanting to go to a public bath and drink fruit water. I don't think I can look so serious for too long.

As I was thinking this, the uncle got off his horse and got down on one knee.

"I am very sorry to interrupt your pleasant conversations! His Majesty has asked me to hurry up and bring you to His Majesty, who is resting at a Temporary Base...!"

"Uh...now? Maybe from now on? I have some preparations and other things to do, so I may not be able to leave right away..."

I was so embarrassed that I had to protest. Normally, a reply other than "yes" to a royal order from the king would be impossible. As proof of this, the uncle knight who came to convey His Majesty's order was surprised with his eyes wide open.

Camsin and Till look worried, and I would refuse if I could.

But that would not be possible.

"Oh, um...there's been some trouble and the march has stopped..."

"Just kidding. I'll hurry up and get ready. I will prepare the best lodging in town, so please take a rest for now."

When I told him this with a wry smile, the knight relaxed his shoulders as if relieved.

"Oh, by the way, do you know the cause?"

"I don't know the details, but it seems that some adventurers and some knights had a clash..."

"What? You don't mean Ortho and the others, do you? If we get into trouble with the knights, it could be bad..."

I couldn't help but respond to the uncle's report, knowing that Ortho and the others would not do anything untoward against the knights. Perhaps it must be another group of adventurers.

"Camsin, take the knight to the Xsara Hotel. Tell them I'll pay the fee later."

"Yes, my Lord! Please follow me."

I ask Camsin to take care of the knight uncle and then turn to Till.

"Till go report this to Dee and Espada, and we'll see how many men we need to defend Seat Village and the adventurers' town. We'll also need to prepare an armored wagon for the journey through the Magic Beast-infested mountainous terrain. And maybe some food for the journey."

"I, I understand!"

Till rushed out at my instruction.

Now, we were in trouble. I never thought I would be on the front line again... Although it is not a battlefield where we will collide with the enemy knights, I feel a sense of personal danger.

Ah, how I wish to live in peace.

"I want to live in peace, you know."

"What? What's the matter?"

"No, nothing."

While the knights are assembling and preparing supplies, the voice of my heart seems to have unintentionally escaped my mouth. Dee, standing next to me, tilts her head.

After all, the knights of Seat Village, which is often exposed to attacks by Magic Beast, are unusually quick to assemble and form up. While I was muttering to myself, they quickly took shape. It was like a well-trained firefighting team.

"Van-sama, the Knights have been assembled, the Seat Village Knights and the Espada Knights are all present."

Dee reports on behalf of the group and turns to the knights. Well, they are quick. They are quick to prepare, but they are also quick to roll call. Our knight corps is wonderful, isn't it?

I look around at everyone, satisfied, and open my mouth.

"Everyone! Do you want to go to the Wolfsburg Mountains?"

I jokingly call out a few random words. A few of them responded with "wow" without really understanding what I was talking about. That's a good reaction. Whoever responds now will be promoted one rank. Just kidding.

"Ah, a royal order has just come down from His Majesty! It seems that there was some trouble on the march! We have no choice but to go and help! Everyone, share your strength with me!"

I made a strange announcement in an attempt to ease the tension as much as possible. Everyone dutifully responded with a "woohoo!" Some of them couldn't hide their confusion, but it couldn't be helped. I'll educate them later.

With this thought in mind, I cleared my throat and looked up.

"Now, I will leave half of you to defend Seat Village and the adventurers' town, and half of you will head for the Wolfsburg Mountains with me! In the lead, adventurers, please be the guide! Second and last row will be armored wagons and infantry! In the center, mechanical archers and cavalry! Leading the knights will be Knight Commander Dee!"

"Yes!"

Dee yelled back, and the other knights followed suit.

"Alright! Let's go!"

Raising one hand to announce that they were off to battle, there was a loud reply and the march began.

Well, now that we've done all the preparations, let's enter the mountain with the utmost care and safety.
