Two Weeks Later

There was a time when I thought I could live in this village for the rest of my life.

"Hi, I'm free..."

It has been two weeks since Kainagi and Mina's memories took root.

I was tired of the slow life in Feld Village, which I had enjoyed to the fullest at first.

Once I helped them fetch water and do household chores in the morning, there was nothing to do at all in the afternoon.

When I was fetching water, I noticed that my reflection in the river looked just like the character in [SeveChro].

I had silver hair with a slight bluish tinge and clear emerald eyes. My body shape and facial features looked a little young, perhaps because I was 14 years old.

She has a toned body trained in swordsmanship, but her breasts seem to be larger than Kainagi's... I'll pretend I don't know much about it from her reflection in the flowing river.

I have a feeling that if I get deeply involved in this matter, my heart will break.

In this country, a person is considered an adult at the age of 15, and it is also decided that one can officially start working only after reaching adulthood.

In a village, it is common for a person to start working as a helper at home about two years before becoming an adult, and then take over the family's business. In towns, people can choose their jobs a little more freely.

I think Claire is helping her mother a lot these days.

I can at least clean, but I was so clumsy at sewing that my mother took away my needle because she said it was dangerous. Since my mother is a housewife, if she is not too busy, Claire is enough for her. Probably.

The day after I got better, my father came home and after finishing the remaining harvest, he planted vegetable seeds for the fall.

I helped him a little, but it didn't take long.

I also planted rice seeds, which are planted year-round around here. Rice in this world is not grown in rice plants, but in large berries, which are grown in the fields.

...It really is a totally different world, I thought.

My father and mother rely only on Claire, and for some reason, they don't let me help them much with their work.

Although I am a little clumsy, I am not incapable of doing detailed work, and I think they know that. I wonder if it is childish of me to want her to depend on me once in a while.

So, the only thing I had to do during this afternoon was to practice kenjutsu (swordsmanship), which is a form of swordsmanship for me.

When I was swinging my wooden sword near the river that we could see from our house, my father would sometimes come over and swing it with me.

Reading, writing, and arithmetic were enough for Mina and Kainagi's memory.

Since then, my father has been frequently traveling back and forth between the town and the village.

He said he had many things to do, but it seems he is not allowed to tell his family about it, and he muddled through saying he would find out in the near future anyway.

I got the impression from his every word that he didn't want to get the villagers' hopes up by spreading the story too thin because the success rate was so low.

In today's punctual society, even elementary school students have their classes scheduled by the minute when they go to school.

The sudden disappearance of such a schedule made me realize what it is like.

This may be even more so since I am not old enough to leave the village on a whim, especially since I am guaranteed a minimum standard of living.

I wandered around the village, wondering where I could spend my time today.

It seemed that a new house was being built at the entrance to the village, and I could see carpenters working hard on this occasional big job.

There was nothing I could do to help with such a massive construction project, so I turned on my heel.

But this was after only two weeks.

Even if I wanted to leave the village, the only thing I could think of was to become an adventurer. I would have to stay in the village for another six months until I came of age, and then I would have to think of something.

I'll think of something in time...a future and a way to pass the time now.

In the past two weeks, I've wandered almost all around the village.

I've been told that Mina is a very optimistic young woman.

If I continue to live in the village, I will take over my father's farm and eventually marry a boy from the village who is close to my age.

Well, I can't imagine such a life at all.

To begin with, I feel like I've been avoided by boys around my age lately.

I think I'm popular there with the smaller boys and girls, both male and female. Maybe it's because I play with them sometimes in my spare time.

As I was walking around thinking, I came back near my house.

...Yes, let's go to the ruins where I woke up.

According to Mina's memory, it was a place she found a few years ago, where she sometimes hid and took a nap.

A secret base, you know.

A mysterious place where even demons would not come near. It is said that such a characteristic sometimes appears in a place where the power of God works strongly.

We entered the forest and walked toward the secret base. The air was clear and the trees in the forest provided just the right amount of shade from the sun.

The air was clear and the trees in the forest provided a nice shelter from the sun.

"This is where I woke up, so it's only natural that there should be something there.

I mumbled to myself as I used my knowledge of novels to investigate the area. Many people are vocal when they are looking for something, aren't they?

The floor is made of brick-like stones and is set at about the height of my knees.

There were steps in front, to the right, and to the left, which appeared to be stairs. It would seem that the stone pillars stood about 10 steps away from the stone floor, as if they were enclosing the area.

The stone floor has been weathered by the passage of time and crumbled here and there, and there are several places, like the place where I woke up, and where the gaps between the stone floor and the crumbled stone pillars provide the perfect hiding place.

Someone might have taken it away, or it has decayed away, but I could not find anything that could have been the ceiling.

If they went to the trouble of building something like this in the woods when there is open land right next to it, I wonder if there might have been an altar or something for rituals.

"If there is something there, it would be on the floor rather than on the pillars."

Being of the camp that likes to eat later, I looked around the stone pillars first, peeling away tangled vegetation, but couldn't find anything.

All I could tell was that it was a stone pillar with grooves carved vertically, like a pattern.

It would have been an interesting discovery if it had been carved with a magic circle or a picture of an ancient civilization.

I was the youngest child in the family, but contrary to popular belief, I was a picky eater.

I think the main reason was that my older brothers never tried to deprive me, my older sister.

But that's not necessary.

I walk up the stairs and examine the stone floor with my hands.

I don't have any expertise, so all I can do is brush off the dirt and take a good look, but it's all part of my leisure time, so it doesn't matter if I don't find anything.

I don't expect to find anything that easily.

The floor has been left out in the open for a long time, and the dirt stains are so bad and sticky, it's not going to get any cleaner without water and a brush.

"Ah, I see."

It occurred to me that I might be able to get by with the cleaning magic my mother had taught me.

But I haven't used magic since I came here.

Magic is the use of magical mana to create supernatural phenomena.

Magic exists everywhere, but it is usually drawn from the body and used.

It is said that excellent magicians sometimes use the magic power of their surroundings, but this is an advanced technique that places a heavy burden on the body and is prone to failure.

Magic is said to be a supernatural phenomenon that can be explained theoretically to those who have studied magic.

Neither my father nor mother seemed to know much about this area, so they did not explain it to me. In other words, it doesn't matter if you don't know much about it.

Mina's opinion is that even if you don't understand the theory of magic, you can use it if you can visualize it.

When my mother heard this, she rolled her eyes in surprise. The truth is that logic is important.

That's usually the case, isn't it?

Mina, who couldn't use magic because she couldn't understand Mother's complicated talk at all, decided that she could just use magic as she saw fit, and as a result, she was able to use magic for the first time.

Is she a genius or an Idiot?

But this body belongs to Mina.

She must be able to do it with her imagination!

I sat down in the center of the stone floor and put my hands on the floor.

I let the magic flow through me, imagining that the water will wash away the leaves and dirt that have accumulated from somewhere.

Whether it was Mina's memory or my imagination, I was able to easily recognize the magical power that was flowing through my body.

Something faintly warm was moving through my body like a blood stream. I imagine it flowing into my shoulders, into my arms, into my palms, and then pushing it out..."[Clean]!

"[Clean]!"

A strong wind arose for a moment around me. The wind blew the dirt and debris outward. The dirt that was blown away scattered around me and stained the stone pillars in the vicinity.

Satisfied with the cleanliness, I stood up, and the entire stone floor began to shine. Upon closer inspection, I could see that the trash was gone and a groove like a Magic Circle had formed on the stone floor.

I thought to myself, "Isn't this a bad idea for me standing in the middle of it?".

Before I could even realize, I was standing in an entirely different location.
