War Prayer

The next day, before going into battle, His Majesty gave a speech to boost the morale of the soldiers.

When His Majesty gave a speech like, "Brave knights of the kingdom," I saw the soldiers, especially those at the end of the line, getting more and more motivated, and I was convinced that this is what charisma means.

Well, it didn't resonate with me, who wanted to stay cooped up in my territory.

"Everything will be ready by the end of the day! All the elites! Keep your spirits up today and be ready to go! Tomorrow we will punch Jiernetta in the side!"

For the last time, His Majesty deliberately used a savage way of giving encouragement, showing his teeth in a ferocious smile. To which the soldiers responded with loud shouts. Having expanded his territory through warfare, he is used to treating his soldiers well.

"Okay! Till, then, please?"

"Yes!"

Till gives the signal at the right moment, and Till steps forward with a loud reply; behind Till are a group of girls dressed in identical maid's uniforms, moving in pairs and apart.

There are ignition stands lined up in advance on the street, and the fires are lit one after another. The red fires lit up the street at even intervals in the evening as the sun was setting, creating a somewhat fantastic scene.

His Majesty and the nobles, who knew what they were doing, watched in silence, but the soldiers, who had not been informed of anything, looked puzzled.

In the Kingdom of Scuderia, there is a custom called the "War Prayer Ceremony," in which a sumptuous meal is served before going into battle. The way of doing this is quite different, but I guess it is a part of the ceremony of going into battle.

However, since it is held just before going into battle, it is usually a simple meal like those served at forts and encampments, with a glass of sake for each person.

Then, since they had come all the way to Seat Village, why didn't Van help them make memories of their visit? With this in mind, he personally asked His Majesty to provide the meal for the war rites.

"... Can such a small territory satisfactorily prepare meals for tens of thousands of soldiers?"

Jalpa said to me, but I simply replied, "Leave it to me".

There is a surplus of meat from magical beasts that needs to be disposed of. There is a limit to how long it can be dried and preserved. This is a chance to clean out our inventory.

After having done these dozens of times, the preparations for the barbecue were completed easily. After confirming this, I gave Camsin the next instruction.

"Prepare the meat!"

"Yes!"

Like Till, Camsin gave a good answer and stepped forward. Behind him are the members of the Seat Village Knights pulling a cart piled high with the meat of the magical beast.

The carts with meat on them ran one after the other on both sides of the street. The soldiers watched the scene with round eyes.

Once everyone is in place, the meat is placed on the barbecue tables one after another, and the area begins to smell delicious.

Not only the soldiers, but even the nobles had a hard time holding back their drooling. After all, the meat they were grilling was that of rare large magical beasts that even the Royal Capital could not afford to eat.

Moreover, the meat is seasoned with expensive salt, pepper, and Van's special yakiniku sauce. It is a pity that they serve bread instead of rice, but that should not be a problem since there is also sake spirit. There is a large supply of whiskey, grape wine, and barley wine in development, as well as enough liquor to supply the Mary Chamber of Commerce and the commercial guilds that we have requested.

Van's barbecue sauce is made from the original meat sauce and flavored with wine, garlic, apple-like fruit, black pepper, onion-like vegetables, and salt. I think it turned out to be a pretty good barbecue sauce, in my opinion.

While everyone was glued to the barbecue that was steadily being prepared, Till and Camsin reported that it was ready.

"Your Majesty, it's ready!"

His Majesty nodded deeply and opened his mouth to everyone.

"My knights! Today is a more special war prayer ceremony than usual! Normally, we would only be able to distribute more preserved food, but today, Baron Van has provided us with rare food! I hope you will eat to your heart's content!"

As His Majesty called out, the other nobles told the various knights to begin their supper.

Soon after, tens of thousands of soldiers flooded in.

The soldiers chomped down on their meat with such vigor that one would have thought this was truly war.

"Please eat slowly!"

"Here's some Van-sama sauce too!"

"This Van-sama sauce is delicious!"

"No, the meat itself is also delicious!"

Everyone was eating up the meat with much fanfare. Well, I left some delicious Demon Bests meat on the table. It was good to clear out the inventory.

"Well, let us eat the delicious meat too."

Saying this, I turned around to see His Majesty looking at the soldiers curiously.

"Baron Van. What kind of magical beast is this meat? The joy of those soldiers is extraordinary."

Jalpa and the others lined up behind His Majesty seemed to agree with these words.

"Let's see... as I recall, there was a Scaled Wolf, Armored Lizard, Black Boar... Oh, there were also several Vermilion Tigers..."

I reply as I recall. At that, the nobles voiced their surprise.

"Vermilion Tigers...!"

"Nonsense. Even in the entire kingdom, they appear once every twenty years..."

"It is said to be a powerful magical beast comparable to a dragon..."

I nodded my head in understanding when I heard such a voice.

"Indeed, the Vermilion Demon Tiger seems to be rare. I've only defeated about five of them so far. However, they were ten meters in size, so it was easy to target them with a ballista. I was surprised when I first saw it, though."

With a wry smile, I replied. I don't know what they thought of my answer, but not only the nobles behind me, but even His Majesty was stunned.

"...The Vermilion Demon Tiger caused enough damage to half destroy a city, and it took the Royal Capital Order's elite 1,000 men and two first-rate four-elemental magicians to finally defeat it..."

His Majesty laughed in dismay as he said this.
