Container House Style Base

The next day. After a fair amount of trial and error, I completed a connectable container house-like base.

That evening, they quickly constructed a container house at a roadside encampment and attempted to connect them together. Part of the wall was removable, and the containers were connected without any gaps.

As a result, a base the size of a small community center was completed. The space was about 40 tatami mats. It was quite large, but it was difficult for tens of thousands of soldiers to rest there.

Because it is made of Wood Blocks, it was sturdy and much lighter than metal. It will be a game to see how many can be loaded onto a wagon.

I attempted to determine the maximum number of pieces that could be assembled, but it appeared that if the width exceeded 10 meters, the strength would decrease unless support pillars were inserted between the pieces. Therefore, they will essentially connect bases that are 10 meters wide.

By connecting containers in the form of a corridor between them, they were able to increase the size of the bases without any difficulty.

"How about that?"

Ortho, who was showing signs of exhaustion after building a large number of container houses, confirmed this and nodded, indicating that everything seemed to be okay for the time being.

"Okay, let's finish this. We could build the second and third floors if we wanted to, but since this is a temporary base, we don't need them this time. Thank you all for your hard work."

When I informed them about the completion of the project, Ortho and the others raised their hands in joy. As I chuckled at the sight of the adventurers surveying the temporary base they had constructed, I turned my head to tackle the next issue.

I had to get a large carriage to transport the numerous container houses and similar items. It was getting a little dark, but I should build one.

So, I decided to create a carriage with a unique shape resembling a truck chassis. The tires should be large to prevent getting stuck in ditches or bumps, and the cargo bed should be spacious enough to accommodate large items.

As I was getting completely absorbed in making things, Till called my name with a troubled look on his face.

"Van-sama? I think it's time for you to go..."

"What? Oh, curfew...!"

Upon hearing Till's words, I felt a chill as if ice had slipped down my back. Yes, it's already dark. It was already dark.

My curfew had been extended from dinner time to sunset, and I would surely be scolded if I failed to adhere to it.

"I'm going home! I'll do my best tomorrow!"

"Yes!"

Till and Camsin replied to my words with serious expressions. Arte, by the way, nodded with a wry smile.

Then the adventurers, noticing our unusual behavior, hurriedly opened their mouths.

"Van-sama, are you finished for the day?"

"How much is... how much is the reward for completing the order...?"

The adventurers turned around, waving their hands in the air, and shouting.

"Don't worry! Come back to the Lord's mansion later to receive the rewards!"

I was about to turn on my heel when Ortho, with one hand raised in the air, interrupted me.

"Oh, Van-sama...!"

"What? What's wrong?"

I replied to Ortho in a hurry. Ortho then pointed behind me with a perplexed expression on his face.

"Some bigwigs from the adventurers' town are here."

"Bigwigs?"

I wondered what he was talking about. I turned my head in the direction Ortho was pointing. Then, a group of about 20 people was coming toward us from the back of the street.

Jalpa and Venturi were in the lead, and the nobles, including His Majesty, were lined up in a row. As Venturi, who was leading the way, approached the container house they had constructed for testing, he opened his mouth in astonishment.

"Oh...! When did such a building appear...!"

Upon saying this, the nobles began to inspect the container house. In the midst of all this, only His Majesty walks straight towards me.

"I received a report that something interesting is being built. I've come to see it."

His Majesty chuckled happily and told the story of how he came here. He shifts his gaze to the container house and raises the corner of his mouth.

"I'm not certain how easy it is to defend yet, but you've built something quite interesting. Why don't you actually show me how to build one?"

"Oh, okay, Ortho-san, is it okay if I ask you to build one?"

When I asked, Ortho readily agreed and built a container house. The four adventurers assembled the container house in about two minutes.

His Majesty and the others watched with wide-eyed amazement.

"I didn't think it could be made faster than a camp tent..."

"It seems quite sturdy."

"It's more than enough for temporary use."

I can hear voices in the background. Since they are just now turning their attention to us, let me finish my brief explanation.

"These temporary bases can be interconnected, allowing them to be utilized in various terrains. If you find an open space along a mountain road, you can set it up as a shelter or rest area. Since it would be difficult to transport them by ordinary horse-drawn wagons, we have prepared a special carriage for this purpose. This one carriage will be able to transport ten temporary bases."

When I explained this, His Majesty nodded in satisfaction. While many nobles were admiring the container house, some turned to me, the creator.

"...Is this what children can come up with?"

"As I recall, Baron Van is not even ten years old."

"I heard that he was sent to the frontier because he had no aptitude for the four elemental magic..."

As if caught by the sound of these words, several eyes turned to Jalpa. Jalpa, perhaps sensing the stares, remained silent with a furrowed brow.

The topic of conversation between the nobles, Jalpa, and me is likely to continue circulating for a while. Hahaha. You were a poor judge of character, Daddy.

As I chuckled at that thought, Espada emerged from behind Jalpa, appearing even more serious than usual.

"Oh, Espada, we were just talking about the temporary base we're going to set up..."

I tried to explain, inwardly pleased to have a good excuse, but Espada nodded solemnly and answered.

"Yes. It is necessary to prioritize that. However, the curfew had passed before you arrived, so we will provide you with two additional hours of study time as promised."

"No way!"

I let out a loud scream in front of His Majesty and the other nobles.
