Arrival of the King

I took one look at Daddy silently staring at the Dwarven furnace and spoke to Brother Murcia.

"Brother Murcia. Does coming here this time mean that you are going to split the Fertio Marquis Knights in two?"

I asked, and Murcia looked at me with a troubled smile.

"Oh, actually..."

Just as Murcia was about to say something, a member on horseback comes running from the ramparts.

"Master Van! His Majesty the King is here! It seems that he has arrived with the Imperial Knights!"

"Too soon!?"

The Royal Capital is more than twice as far as the first capital of the Marquis, so why is he here so early?

"Well, he left the Royal Capital as soon as he sent the letters to the nobles... I'll hurry up and go meet His Majesty! Dee, Espada, follow me! Father, brother Murcia can stay here for now..."

"That's not going to happen, you idiot. Of course, we'll be there when His Majesty arrives."

"Oh, that's right. Then, let's put aside the Seat Village tour for now and go pick up His Majesty.

When I unintentionally gave the order casually, I received a scolding from my father. However, it was a very reasonable scolding, so I quickly agreed, and we all headed for the city gates.

When we reached the gate, all the knights who were waiting for my instructions were looking at me.

"Okay! Open the gate!"

Normally, someone of my subordinates like Dee, or Espada would check the other party once, but half of the knights had seen His Majesty's face before, so I guess it would be all right. As I waited with this in mind, the castle gate was opened and a four-horse carriage appeared from the back. Around it were knights on horseback.

Or rather, all the knights coming in from the back were on horseback, but I wondered how quickly they had come.

"Oh, Baron Van! It's been a while!"

Just as the carriage entered the city and its doors opened, His Majesty descended with such a greeting in a loud voice. Even the surrounding residents were so surprised by his frankness that they forgot to kneel. His Majesty walked over to us, not caring about that.

"You have made something quite interesting again! That big bathhouse was a surprise! And the town is getting better and better equipped! I wonder if there are any changes in Seat Village as well?"

His Majesty, walking towards me with a good-humored smile, noticed the people lined up behind me and opened his mouth.

"Oh, Marquis! I've been looking for you because you're not at the post, even though your knights are outside. Have you finished touring the village yet?"

His Majesty said, and his father nodded deeply.

"Yes. We're almost done... all that's left is the lake, I think."

When Father replied, His Majesty replied in a loud voice.

"Oh, indeed! Now that we are here, we must greet them as well! Marquis, just as well. If you haven't seen them yet, why don't you come with me?"

"Yes, of course. I will go with you."

His Majesty's momentum pushes the father to agree to the proposal. For some reason, their conversation reminded me of a drinking session between a salary man's boss and his subordinate, and in a sense, the aristocratic society may be similar.

With this preconceived notion in mind, my father's back looked somewhat tired as he walked with His Majesty in front of me. Or was it my imagination?

"Baron Van! Open the gates!"

I found myself at the edge of the Seat Village. I nodded hurriedly at His Majesty's words and instructed the group members on the castle walls to open the gates. A heavy sound rang out after the group members replied, and soon the gates, which could be called the back entrance to Seat Village, were opened.

Then, the father, who had maintained a calm feeling so far, indeed peels his eyes and exclaims in surprise.

"A, Apkallu...?"

At the sound of his voice, Brother Murcia also stepped forward to see the scene on the other side of the gate. The lake, which is also a reservoir, is huge, with boathouses around it and several boats floating on the surface of the lake. There were also chairs and tables around the lake where people could rest and relax, and where Apkallu and the villagers seemed to be chatting and eating and drinking together.

As the sound of a child Apkallu playing with a ball echoed in the air, His Majesty looked around lightly.

"...It looks like the number of Apkallu has increased. Has the chief changed? As I recall, was it Lada Vesta-dono, wasn't it?"

"You remember well, don't you? The Apkallu sitting over there is Lada Vesta-san."

He nodded shallowly and went to Lada Vesta. He then approached Lada Vesta, who was sitting in a chair watching the lake.

"It's been a while. I hope you have been well."

When His Majesty greeted him so, Lada Vesta turned around, checked his face and immediately nodded.

"Oh, you are Master Dino, the great chief of the humans. I am alive and well, as you can see, and you seem to be a little tired, Master Dino."

"Hahaha! I've been riding on a horse until now. Well, I feel better after seeing Lada Vesta."

"I see. I'm glad to hear that."

After such an exchange, His Majesty and Lada Vesta start chatting. Seeing the two of them talking over a table, Father grumbled as if he was moaning.

"...How in the world did they build a village like this?"
