Revival of the Tyrant Dragon! (1)

About a hundred kilometers north of Misery is a small town called Rune. It is the birthplace of the Dragon Sect and the northernmost settlement in Ardesia. The well-maintained road ends there. There was no road beyond that point, just a desolate stretch of land.

Sixty kilometers further north from Loon, we arrived at the foot of Mount Aldena. The terrain there is so steep with high cliffs that it is impossible to go any further by human power.

The "Temple of the Saints" is located in a corner of such a place.

Mari and her group arrived at their destination at 10:00. It is ten kilometers away from the Temple of the Saints and is a perfect place to set up a base camp.

After setting up camp, they immediately set out to scout the temple.

"Sarah, do you know your role?"

"Yes, I do. Your sister will return in three hours from her scouting trip. If she does not return after that time, I will ask the knights to search for her. If I can confirm that the dragon is not in the temple, I will join the search."

"If by any chance you are safe, you can revive me. I'll do my best to make sure that doesn't happen, but if it does, please do me a favor."

"Okay."

There are no more tears in Sarah's eyes as she answers.

"Knights, please take care of Sarah."

Mari bows her head and the knights get down on one knee.

"Sophie, are you ready?"

"Of course."

"And Harill-kun?"

"He's fine."

I look at Sarah one last time. Her red twin tails waving in the wind, she looks so fragile, Mari pulls her into a tight hug.

"Sarah!"

"...Sister..."

A cough echoed in front of the two of them. A cough echoed in front of them.

"Mari, we're just scouting today. If we get too excited here, we won't have anything to do tomorrow."

Everyone laughed at Sophie's words, except for Mari and Sarah, who turned bright red but seemed to have relaxed moderately.

"Well, I'm off!"

And with that, Mari, Sophie, and Harill headed off on their reconnaissance mission.

◇*◇*◇

It took them about ten minutes to reach the Temple of the Saints. The temple stands on a small flat area surrounded by sheer cliffs, and is surrounded by large rocks. The temple is old and looks as if it is about to fall into decay.

Standing on the high ground overlooking the temple, the three of us were all relieved. The trouble with the ferocious dragon is that its powerful fire breath and magic are completely ineffective.

However, there are many places where they can hide from the breath if they are in a rocky area, and the shockwave from the bursting magic can bounce off the stones and inflict damage.

"This makes it easier to fight."

"Yes, the shockwave will be doubled in power because there are so many rocks."

"Looks like luck is on our side. Let's go back to the camp. Tomorrow is the big day."

That's when it happened!

There was a violent earthquake, and rocks fell from the cliff. The ground cracked, and the temple rattled and roared as it collapsed.

"No way... the appointment is tomorrow!"

Sophie shouted!

Mari panicked, but understandably so. Gargantis had said that he had gone out to Cyrus to see if Mari was there. He did not come out because it was time to go.

It was the same this time; the tyrannical dragon must have appeared when he realized that Mari was nearby.

"The Tyrant Dragon has been waiting for me!"

*Gogogogogoo ------!!!

The earthquake intensified and there was already no trace of the temple. Then, a huge black shadow appeared beneath Mari and the others from under the broken ground!

A dragon!

It was a hair-raising black giant dragon clad in an ominous aura. The mere sight of it was overwhelming!

"I underestimated it! I expected it, but it's far beyond that."

Shall we retreat?

"Mari, if we give up, Ardesia will be finished."

"With your help, we can manage!"

Mari is not sure what to do, but she knows that if she backs out now, everything will go wrong. Besides, even if she failed, Sarah would still be there. She is ready to fight.

"Let's do it, Sophie and Harill-kun!"

They both nodded.

"Look, if Sophie fails, we'll run away as fast as we can. And we'll be ready for a rematch.---Do you understand?"

"Yes, sir."

"Okay."

"Sure, but if I don't make it, Mari will have to revive me."

Seeing Sophie and Harill smiling, Mari was convinced that everything would be fine.

"Then we'll go as planned!"

At Mari's signal, the three of them set off.

Sophie jumped down from the ledge and started running toward the dragon, while Harill also got off the ledge and hid as close to the dragon as possible.

Mari checked the situation from the high ground and sent all the commands by messenger.

"Come on, we're ready."

Muttering this, she looks at Sophie, who is rapidly approaching the dragon. Then, running at full speed, she draws her sword and slashes at its legs with all her might!

*Guwooooooo------!

The dragon roars and glares at Sophie.

"Okay, he's stopped! Keep stalling."

The Tyrannosaur begins to lash out and Sophie concentrates on evading. When it swung its large tail and attacked, she indeed broke out in a cold sweat.

As she watches, Mari looks over to Harill. She saw his magic power rising in the Analyze.

"I'm almost ready to fire a burst of magic!"

It was then that the throat of the Violent Dragon turned white with searing temperature, and Sophie noticed it and braced herself.

"The breath is coming, I've trained enough to avoid it. Even if you do get hit, that's what the Salamander Cloak is for."

But Mari got a chill!

"White? If it's a flame breath, it should be red."

Suddenly, she remembered the science lesson she learned in school.

Flames are not red when the temperature is high!

"Run, Sophie------!!!"

Mari shouted!

But it was already too late, the dragon's breath had been released and a flash of white light struck Sophie!
