Walking in Mineina

The innkeeper told me that South Street has many stores for travelers.

East Street is for the residents of the town, and there is not much to see. West Street, as I found out yesterday, seems to have more inns and restaurants.

"Let's try South Street."

Few people like to come to Mineina to see the sights, being on the edge of a continent where the main industry is the humble mining industry. As such, there doesn't seem to be much to see.

We decided to wander around the stores to see if we could find something interesting specific to the mining town.

I took a peek at a weapon shop for adventurers, but the contents did not seem much different from those in Gardia.

After a brief look around, it seemed that Mineina's store was the one that supplied weapons to the town of Gardia in the first place. No wonder they are the same.

There was also a store selling jewelry, so I went in there.

Magic Enchant wants gems that are known to work in SeveChro. I guessed it would be diamonds that add resistance to all attributes, or rubies that increase STR strength.

I glanced at the price tag and saw that it would cost several large gold coins. It appears that gems are expensive in this world of Virtuari....

I thought I might be able to find rough gemstones for a little less, but I gave up on that because they didn't seem to be selling them.

I went into a hardware store that caught my eye.

Cooking utensils such as knives, pots, and pans. They sell tools such as saws, nails, and knives.

They seem to be wholesaling to the town of Gardia, but they are a little cheaper.

And it seems that quality products made by craftsmen one by one can only be bought in Mineina. It would be good to buy some for our own use.

"What is this?"

Clare was standing in a corner of the store, looking curiously at a silver-colored metal plate that could fit in the palm of her hand. It seemed to change color slightly depending on the way the light hit it.

"It's a good luck charm."

"I see."

A tag with an explanation hung in a position that was difficult to see. It appeared to be a souvenir made from leftover metal.

"Mina-sama, this is..."

"Hmm?"

Rilfana was stunned.

Upon closer inspection, the metal plate seemed to be imbued with magical powers.

"Oh, that metal? It is a metal that is rarely found in this area, but it is too difficult to be processed in large quantities. The surplus is used as souvenirs like this."

I asked the shopkeeper, and he replied.

...I think this is spirit silver mithril, isn't it?

"Don't you make them into weapons or something?"

"I've heard that they are made-to-order and sometimes processed. The quality as a weapon is supposed to be good, but I've heard that not many people know how to use it."

If it's the same as SeveChro, maybe there is a level limit on the weapon, and it's not strong if someone below that level has it.

It would have been too much of a waste to be able to use a weapon made of spirit silver mithril, which would have been level 80+ to be able to use it for advanced positions...

"Can I buy it with ore?"

"Well, I think you can buy it at the ore shop I stock, but I don't think it would be easy for an amateur to melt it down, let alone process it?"

"I'm curious, so I thought I'd do some research."

"You're a young man, and you're doing all this scholarly stuff? I'll tell you what I know."

I'll tell you what, I can use the spirit silver mithril with the blessing of Calfabro-sama and the furnace.

As a thank-you, I bought some cooking utensils for Reda-san's house.

The ones provided with the house had been left unattended for a long time, and were rusty and difficult to use.

"I'm going to buy them as souvenirs for my mother..."

Clare suggested that we buy some for Feld Village.

"Oh, thank you!"

The ore shop I was told about was close by, so I gave the same explanation as before and was sold some spirit silver mithril ore.

I also decided to stock up on ordinary metals such as copper, iron, and silver for blacksmithing practice. I also bought an illustrated book called "Ore Book," which contains a list of ores.

The whole thing cost about two large gold coins, but it was enough to consider it an investment for the future.

Souvenir shops are lined up around the east gate.

From small knives and other practical items to accessories made from pieces of metal and jewelry, there are various souvenir shops.

Many of them seemed to be power gemstones that bring good luck. In this world Virtuari, LUK luck exists as a numerical value, so perhaps it might really go up a little bit.

The bell rang at 4 a.m. noon, and we ate lunch at a random restaurant we entered.

After that, I wandered around South Street, but there was nothing more to see, so I had to return to the guild.

The three of us would need to go there today, since we would be reporting on the request soon. I went upstairs to the general store first.

"Hey, I've been waiting for you, girl!"

"How did it go?"

"We found the room just as you said. You said there was only a statue of the god in the basement hall."

I thought there was a room.

Had Calfabro-sama closed it because we had recovered everything?

"I heard that the stone used for the walls is like nothing I've ever seen before, and that the material researchers are pleased about it."

"It was hard, and that wall..."

"They said they're going to the site because they don't think they can destroy it any way they can. You broke it with a pickaxe, didn't you?"

"Yes, that's right. Maybe it just happened to be in a fragile place?"

Don't tell me about the magic sword.

"It was a collapse caused by magic power, wasn't it? Perhaps it just happened to be a lucky place that was also pierced by magic power."

The dwarven shopkeeper gave me a probing look, but I brushed it off with a cool face.

"...Well, okay. It's a reward, but the researchers said, 'Well done! ' and brought it in from the research fund, so it looks like it's quite a lot. I've treated it as a request for information, so just give this to the receptionist downstairs and he'll take it. It's almost three small gold coins, which is an exceptional reward for a D Rank. Good for you."

"Thank you."

It seems like a good amount of money, even though all that's inside is the information about the room I took out.

He smiled and handed me a certificate for reward exchange. The clerk must have thought we were just regular D Rank adventurers because we only showed him our guild cards with our ranks.

"That's a good amount of money, isn't it?"

"I feel bad that I just dug on my sister's hunch..."

"That's what I call being an adventurer."

In case you're wondering, it's not a hunch, it's knowledge.

I went downstairs to the reception desk to buy materials. I wasn't there yesterday, so Clare stepped forward.

"Well, I'm here to ask about the results of yesterday's valuation."

Clare approached the young man at the reception desk and produced her guild card.

"You must be Claire-san. I'll call the person in charge, please wait."

The young man goes into the back and is quickly followed by a flustered elf man, who informs us in a whisper that Rilfana is the one from yesterday.

"We've been waiting for you!"

"Uh, yes."

The elf man in charge is high-strung; Clare is a little taken back.

"There was an unknown material mixed in with the cannon material!"

It appears that the Ultra Canon was a special material, after all, as well as the walls of the hidden room.

Mineina told him that she was planning to return in a day or two, so he rushed to assess it.

"Here is the result of the valuation, it will be 9 small gold coins and 3 small silver coins. There may be a few more depending on future research!"

"Um, I don't know when you will be in Mineina."

"You are based in the town of Gardia, right? You are based in Gardia, aren't you? We'll make sure you receive the increased amount in Gardia, so you don't have to come here."

Clare turned to me and nodded.

"Well, then, I'll take care of it."

"Well, I know the guild master Reda-san, so it might be helpful if you include Reda-san in your contacts."

"I understand. I will do that."

I don't know if I'll be based in Gardia forever, or if I'll leave my base but go on a long trip.

I asked him to include my card and Rilfana's card in the record of the accomplishment of the request.

"You don't have to go to the request desk, we can give you the money here as well."

"Oh, but I couldn't do that in Gardia."

"Gardia's guild is excellent at taking care of newcomers. I remember that they give advice to newcomers through the receptionist every time they need it."

Was that only in Gardia, I heard that in the town of Gardia, once you reach C Rank, you can just use the receptionist to buy materials.

This time, since I would also receive an information fee, I decided to receive it at the request reception desk and asked them to just record it.

After that, I received the reward in bulk at the request reception desk.

The breakdown was seven small gold coins and a half for the Ultra Canon material, one small gold coin for the Canon, and the rest for the Solge Moss and Dark Grass. The amount of money appears to be higher than I expected since I collected all the iron scraps from the Canon.

It appears that the rewards are higher for defeating them than for collecting them, perhaps because of the higher level of danger.

The total was 12 small gold coins and 3 small silver coins.

The money was more than I had expected, and I was in the black at once, except for the cost of ore.

I also gave Clare and Rilfana three small gold coins each as spending money, and they both decided to put it all on their cards.

We still had some time left, so we took a chance and went to check out the blacksmithing facilities near the mine.

As expected, some of the first ones we visited refused to let us in, but there were some that said it was okay, so we went there to see them.

We decided to stay one more night at the same inn as yesterday.

I looked around before that, but I couldn't find a good lodging house. I was not sure if it was the guild's recommendation or not, but I guess it was a better inn than the others I looked for one randomly.

"Sis, I got a blessing from Stellatio-sama."

"Hmm? Did she tell you what kind of blessing?"

"Yes! I'm sure it's a hard road to walk with that sister. I'll give you a little grant from my abundant magical power! She said she'd give me a strength boost."

"Oh, oh."

I wonder if the number of blessings can be adjusted according to his mood....

But I'm surprised Clare even remembers the handsome guy's lines.

If Clare's strength has improved, I guess she can make it back to Gardia in one day.

Tomorrow, the three of us decided to leave Mineina early in the morning and return to Gardia. I can't wait to try blacksmithing.
