First off, thanks as always for the support. I wouldn't have had the tools necessary to create such a mod as this if not for such a large supportive community.

This is an early access alpha version of my Eco mod. It may have issues. As such, please consider backing up your saves or only trying it on a new save that you don't care about. I doubt it would be able to corrupt anything due to the nature of the mod, but always better safe than sorry.

The current version has 3 zones (neighborhoods) in Willow Creek with completed trash layers:

  • Foundry Cove
  • Courtyard Lane
  • Magnolia Blossom

The trash layers start showing once you're slightly to the right-side of neutral and progressively get worse as you head toward industrial. The worst two layers are added when you hit industrial, and when you go past 50% industrial respectively.

All other zones currently have dumpsters that will change to graffiti covered ones when the footprint gets bad enough, and vice versa.

The point of this release, in addition to giving you a perk, is to let my supporters help guide the mod. Is a neighborhood too trashy, too soon? Not trashy enough?

Let me know. I also highly encourage using my Discord as Patreon can sometimes be difficult to have conversations on. My Discord link can be found on TwistedMexi.com

One particular question I have is: Should all neighborhoods have a dumpster or should there only be one or two per world?

Please don't hesitate to give me any feedback, whether it's feature requests, changes, or bug reports. Thank you!

Instructions:
This is a multi-part mod, so open the download with a zip program and drag the "tmex-EcoOverhaul [Alpha v1]" folder from there to your mods folder.

The data and .ts4script file must be kept together in the folder.
Make sure script mods are enabled in gameplay options.
Do not modify anything inside the EcoOverhaul folder.

I would like to have dumpster in every neighborhood where it fits, I mean if there is a place where it naturally could be placed without it looking really weird. I don't believe it would fit in to the wealthy neighborhood in the get Famous world, as an example. And maybe not in Sulani. Maybe it could fit everywhere in industrial phase, but I mean it would be good if it fits in with even how it looks when green and neutral. Another thing that might not fit in this mod, but if you managed to mod in the dumpster, do you believe it could be possible to mod in the voting objects in some neighborhoods also? One more thing, if we wanna change position of the dumpster ourselves with TOOL, will the other graffiti versions be at the original place you added them, or will they follow with the ones we move?

TwistedMexi

Yes I'll be looking at the voting boards soon. As of right now moving the dumpster with TOOL would only work as long as that dumpster is active. The second it switches from plain to graffiti or vice versa it'll be back at the original location. Maybe I can add a command to update the dumpster position, but it'll be low priority for now. Maybe I'll add a dumpster to every neighborhood for now and hold a vote on which neighborhoods should have it removed before release.

None in Sulani and I guess none in any of the wealthier neighbourhoods. I'm torn on Windenburg. Trash is accurate but it kind of has that medieval vibe that would be taken away with trash. I'm also uncertain about Brindleton Bay because while I'd love it in Whiskerman Warf and Deadgrass Isle I definitely don't want the other two.

Just a thought, maybe it's good to think what kind of neighborhood it is when adding trash, maybe some trash work better or worse in different neighborhoods/worlds.

I just downloaded a mod from Scarlet, "No eco footprint." I shouldn't have bought this pack, but I figured it would have some good stuff. One of my households got their electric turned off the other day. Ugh. I don't mind participating in this eco stuff a bit, but I hate cleaning up trash. I do love gardening, so that helped and I recycle, but it's not for me, other than a little of it. Do you know if her mod will help me & get rid of the brown clouds & not have the electricity go out? If not, I saw where I can turn the game off. Thanks!

Cher151

Sorry. I don't really understand all your mods, but I am guessing you don't have anything that auto cleans it up. 😊

Could you make the mod as each world on it's own, and then we could decide which worlds we might want to have trashed? I don't have any idea if that would be an insane amount of work, so I'd also be fine with a vote situation! LOL!

TwistedMexi

I'm going to try to make it configurable, yes. It won't be literal separate mods like DayBreak/UnderWorlds because that'd be too many files to expect players to maintain properly.

Marie Duran

I'll give this a go. Will the world Willow Creek be the only one effected by this mod? And also, I think you should have 2 dumpsters, or even more than two because I hate it when my sim heads to the dumpster and someone is already there. Huh...

TwistedMexi

I'll consider the multiple dumpsters in some of the larger areas. I'm actively working on adding more worlds, the current alpha is only in willow creek though

Well I just tested the mod I have to say I LOVE IT and I thank you a lot for this! The progression thing is really game changing. Now I want to say four things: 1) I think the worlds need a little bit more of trash Hahaha. I love how subtle is at the beginning, but at the end stage I would love to see a real mess, something that really makes me want to clean the world. 2) If you're doubting if this mod is compatible with mods that change the ecofoorprint decay, it is. I made a little tuning mod that modifies the "ecofootprint_street" commodity and your mod seemed to adapt really well. If you want to check the mod, here it is: http://www.mediafire.com/file/dksfb8sodh0v9z7/Marquillo_Easier_Industrial_Ecofootprint.zip/file I don't know if your mod maps the max and min values of the commodity (which I changed) but both mods worked together as expected. 3) I had a last exception on Willow Creek's Park, Here it is: http://www.mediafire.com/file/nkche2l34s8bh5i/BE-ExceptionReport.zip/file 4) And, to finish, I think it would be really cool if you could do something similar for the green state too. Like adding more trees and windmills. Again, thank you so much for this mod!

TwistedMexi

Thanks for the feedback, I'll consider looking at the NAP changes like the trees after all of the trash has been added. I'll take a look at the BE, thanks.

all neighborhoods should have a dumpsters. You cannot have one or two per world. That would not be fair. To each his own. After all you have to have a high end dumpster. :)
