The article snapped back to the top page as soon as he was finished reading it, prompting him to just stare at the cover in silence for seconds. Maybe even minutes.

He wasn't the only one to find this new superstar strange. Hardly.
Pop culture comes and goes, celebrities lapse in and out of the trending tags all the time. But this mystery magician- This "Heart Jack" was making the rounds you would expect out of the city's mainstay pop stars, in what felt like the turn of a single day.

This mystery only served to bolster his popularity even more. An enigmatic entertainer, doing theatrical magic tricks out of all things, in the limelight. It was something out of a fairytale, and the public was loving every second of it.

But none of that was what got him so keen on this plain announcement for Jack's next show. 

Any other day, an article about some one-hit wonder planning a big performance at a nearby venue was well beyond his notice or concern.
Today, his morning coffee was left unfinished on the kitchen counter, all because of what he saw in the cover of this glorified ad.

Something- Or rather, someone- that he didn't think he would ever see again.

"Jack." Devon muttered.

He stared again. The resemblance was uncanny, despite the hair and...the expression. The black cat's tail flicked, if uncharacteristically slowly.

"Jack..." Devon chuckled.

If this was him, then that name could only be a taunt. A threat, even.
What a hassle, he griped. His tail flicked rapidly as he scanned the page of the venue. He'd never been fond of black tie events 

But he knew his anticipation was over more than that.
