Despite being handed the above disclaimer, hundreds lined up at the Chicago Theater.

The Theater had finally opened again after a long absence. For only about a thousand dollars, a person could enter the theater and swap traits with another person.  These would be random trait swaps, of course, but for some well worth the risk. If you didn't like the trait you received, you could stay inside and risk another swap.

Nobody (including the theater's management) knew that it was an alien called The Role Swapper was what was causing these swaps. The Role Swapper who took up residence in the Chicago Theater had apparently disappeared for some time, but it was back at the theater and doing what it did naturally.
