Chapter 5.

Dad walked quickly right to his room. He wasn't hungry although it was late. He wanted to pick out an outfit for tomorrow night. He was thinking about his red mini-dress. The dress in question was too hard to find. It was a dress with a V-neckline, gathered bodice, and short sleeves. It had a classic empire waist which is accented with a bit of ruching before flowing into an A-line mini skirt. He would match the dress with gold high ankle strappy heeled sandals.  He would complete the look with a rhinestone clutch, a gold necklace, and dangling gold earrings.

When this outfit belonged to Melissa, he didn't know that she owned such a dress or earrings. She had kept several items of her wardrobe from him. Melissa knew that if push came to shove, she could convince him to allow her to wear such things, but there wasn't any reason to get into an argument. “Best not to tell him,” she reasoned. But now that all her apparel belonged to dad, there wasn't a scrap of apparel that dad didn't know about. Including that tiny red thong that he planned to wear with his dress.

Dad tried on his outfit to see how it would look. He admired his appearance in the mirror and then sought out Melissa for a second opinion. Melissa had removed her suit; she was wearing a pair of blue pajama bottoms (and man's boxers) with a white t-shirt.

“What do you think of my outfit?” dad spun in a circle to give Melissa a fuller look.

“You look very handsome. What's the occasion?”

“I'm taking Hannah out tomorrow.”

“Is that why you restyled your hair. I like that too.”

“No, I just wanted a change. My hair was just too short.”

“Not because of Hannah? You haven't seen her in a while.”

“It hasn't been that long.”

“I thought you broke up.”

“No, I guess we were just taking a little break.”

“I see.”

Dad turned. He wanted to get out of the dress now that he had shown it off.

“Dad, can I ask you something?”

“Sure.”

“Dad, the boy Matthew. He's umm, he won't leave me alone.”

“No.”

“No, he won't. I thought you could talk to him.”

“To tell him to back off?”

“I don't want anything to do with him. Tell him to stop calling me.”

“You want me to phone him?”

“No, you both go to the same school. Talk to him there. Tell him I don't want to see him. Tell him I don't want anything to do with him. He won't listen to me.”

“OK, I'll have a TALK with him.”

“Thank you!”

“No problem, Princess.”

The next day, dad wore a pink graphic t-shirt with capped sleeves and a pair of mom's jeans to school. He wore no-show socks under his pink sneakers. It was a casual outfit for a normal day at school.

Melissa wore another business suit with a white shirt and a blue tie.

“Don't forget to talk to Matthew.”

“I won't forget.”

“Great. Luv ya.”

Dad arranged to confront Matthew. He was very direct. Dad and Matthew were about the same height, but dad was a man and Matthew was mostly a boy even though he was eighteen.

“Melissa doesn't want to see you anymore. Cool it!”

“I love her.”

“That's your problem. She doesn't love you.”

“If she would just give me one more chance.”

“No more chances. She told me. Leave her alone.”

“No, I love her.”

“Leave her alone. I'm warning you.”

“I don't care what you say. I love her. I'll never give her up.”

Dad grabbed Matthew by the collar. Matthew pushed dad away. It wasn't long before punches were thrown. The fight was quickly broken up. Dad was taken to the dean's office. He was suspended for fighting and sent home. Melissa was notified. She took the rest of the day off from work and met dad at home.

“I talked to him. Things got out of hand.”

“I see. You were never suspended before.”

“He wouldn't listen to reason.”

“I know. He didn't listen to me either.”

“He's still calling me.”

“I'm sorry honey.”

“Maybe you can take a more direct approach?”

“We got into a fistfight. How much more direct can I be?”

“I mean, you know I have this power. I can swap traits with anyone with their permission.”

“So?”

“So, we can swap social lives and you can break up with Matthew. Then we'll swap back.”

"That might work.”

“OK, let's swap.”

“Now?”

“Yeah.”

“Not tonight, I have a date with Hannah.”

“I forgot.”

“Maybe tomorrow. But I don't know. I'll still be suspended tomorrow.”

“I don't think that matters.”

“We'll talk about it later. I have to get dressed.”

“So, you'll do it?”

“We'll see.”

“Daddy, please!”

“Oh, OK.”

In the shower, dad made sure his entire body was smooth and smelled good. He wanted to impress Hannah. He also experimented with his makeup. His longer hair framed his face in a different way than before. Thus, his makeup should match.

Despite not having any breasts, dad wore a bra to give his chest some definition. He also decided to wear patterned tights. Dad was ready in plenty of time.

“Hello,” dad greeted Hannah when she answered the door. Hannah was dressed for a night out. She wore a dress also, but she was dressed as a mature woman. Dad was dressed a little more sexily as a young adult would. He was wearing an outfit that Melissa would love to wear but didn't have the guts to show off in front of her father. Dad didn't have any such worries.

“Come on in. I'll be ready in just a second.”

“Sure. You look gorgeous. Your dress is so pretty. It really brings out your eyes. You look positively radiant in it.”

“Thank you.”

“I love what you're wearing too. I see you have let your hair grow.”

“I always liked long hair. I don't know why I waited so long.”

“It looks good on you.”

Sarah hid from dad. She shook her head. She didn't like it that her mother was dating a man in her class. She hoped that no one would be talking about it tomorrow.

Hannah and dad enjoyed their meal at the restaurant. That was only the beginning of their evening. Dad rented a hotel room, and they spent several hours being intimate. Both had children at home. A hotel was the best place for such things. They weren't kids anymore. They weren't going to renew their relationship in the back seat of the car.

“I'm sorry,” dad told her.

“Sorry?”

“Yes, I shouldn't have let us drift apart. I don't know what came over me. I guess I was a bit scared about getting involved again.”

“I see.”

“I really do care about you. I want to build a relationship. One that'll last.”

“I think I want that too.”

Hannah noticed a change in dad. He wasn't the same man. He was more serious now. He seemed more caring and empathetic. She also liked the way he looked. He was definitely taking better care of his appearance. The dress he wore was stunning. She remembered that before he didn't take as much care about his appearance.
