Katherine explained it to her children one more time.  She had regressed and modified the genders of her wayward boys. Katherine knew that if she let them grow up into young men again, they would get into trouble once again.  This time they would grow up to be girls. Nicholas (now Nicki) who had been the younger boy had accepted his fate. Now he was the older girl at three.  But his formerly older brother Tony (who was called Tina now) still was being difficult.  That is why she is the younger one and even back in diapers.

If they didn't grow up to be proper ladies, Katherine would try, try again until she got it right.
