Had an impromptu lecture for Periscope's interns with Lucy Bellwood about Making Webcomics. It's no secret I've been struggling for a little while now with my brain and feel pretty burnt out-- the time I gave my regular "How to Self Promote" lecture to our last batch of interns a month or so ago, I accidentally came out as all doom and gloom and horror stories and being a sad bitter shell of a ruined human being. But this time, I felt a lot of love for this job. It felt good. At the risk of being painfully obvious, it's lovely to be reminded of the things that you do love about a thing.
I love that there is no gatekeeping to being a cartoonist. I love that it's entirely up to your own will and dedication to create your own comic. I love that if you keep plugging away, just one page a week, after a year you'll have 52 pages of your comic done. It's just up to you. That's awesome.
