So, some general updates on my experience practicing Sculpting. It's been a few months now since I started sculpting. And, overall it's been a very eye-opening experience. I've always heard and seen how awesome sculpting was, but as someone who's been 3D polymodeling for over a decade, the idea of learning how to model all over again felt sort of daunting. But, after forcing myself to practice every day. I've learned how to model characters at a speed and quality that would have never been possible as a polymodeler. Once you get over the initial hump, it's very addicting and fun.

That being said, I've hit one of the major bumps that all sculpters talk about which is getting the sculpt to reasonable and manageable topology quickly. I spent the last few days experimenting and trying out all sorts of retopology techniques, tools, and algorithms, and I definitely have a lot to say about what I've found so far. If anyone has some pointers or recommendations on the matter, please feel free to share anything down below in the comments - I feel like I've just barely scratched the surface here as a new Sculptor.

Today, I attempted my first port from a zBrush sculpt to Blender, and so far things have been pretty smooth. You can see what the first enemy looks like in Blender, and if I'm lucky I'll be able to start texturing him as soon as I make some adjustments to his topology. But, yeah, that's where we are right now. I have no idea how he's going to look once we apply the Anime shader, but I'm hoping he'll look pretty cool lol

Also, fallout modes in Blender are so much fun to play with. You can do hardsurface sculpting in Blender– just switch from smooth to linear, constant, or inverse square depending on how blocky you want the sculpt to look. Then, there's alpha brushes.

I use retopoflow to retopologize my sculpts in blender, it’s a nice addon that adds a few useful tools that helps a lot in the retopology process, it may not be the fastest way to do it but it does give very good results when you get used to it
