The Starship Promise: An Overheated Rose (Patreon)

Alright! Time for the first of the April Short Stories. As I mentioned previously, voting for The Starship Promise did well enough last month that I decided it deserved a chance. I'm...mostly happy with the result. To be honest, it's out a day later than I'd originally intended mostly because of that 'mostly.' Specifically...there's a smaller amount of actual sex than I'd originally intended. The story otherwise followed almost exactly the plan I had for it. But when I reached the point where I'd originally intended to write a fairly involved sex scene...it just didn't feel right. I started and stopped a couple of attempts to add it anyway, but ultimately I just couldn't get it to feel right in the originally intended spot for it. Eventually, I settled on dropping the original scene and doing a fade to black, then doing a sex scene the next morning instead. 

Ultimately, it means that there's a bit less smut content than I usually add to these shorts. There's absolutely nothing wrong with what's there, and the rest of the story I'm completely happy with. This just happened to be one of the times where it was genuinely difficult to balance storytelling with the fact that these are rewards for an adult patreon page. Normally, it's not something that causes much conflict. In this specific case, however...

Well, hopefully it's satisfying anyway! And it's not an issue that would be likely to persist in the long-term, if people like the series enough to continue it. I think, of all of my current stories, it actually has the most potential for true story telling, rather than just being loosely interconnected stories about kinky sex.
