If you're not a video game fan please forgive the following paragraphs of me geeking out and rambling about esoteric industry jargon.  ><


So today I saw the big trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and I'm now in full-on fanboy mode. If I didn't sketch something Zelda related today I would have been in pain.


As I'm sure I've mentioned once or twice, I'm a huge gamer and collector, and of all the games I've played the Zelda series is  my all-time favorite.  And this new trailer has me stoked as hell.  Why? Because for the first time in a decade the ancient Zelda game formula appears to have been mixed up significantly. I mean this trailer has voice acting for crying out loud! It seems this venerated series has finally caught up with the mid nineties in terms of video game presentation!


I kid, but I really am excited. Though I'm kind of bummed it's not Zelda Williams apparently voicing Zelda.  Not only would that have been cool due to her namesake but also because she has one of the sexiest voices ever.


So the reason such a big trailer hit today is because the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo was this week, or E3 for short. It's basically when all the biggest video game publishers roll out their A-Game  trailers to get consumers pumped to buy their products for the year.  They announced some cool stuff, like an awesome looking new Spiderman game.  But it was a drag that no new Metroid game was announced. Judging by all the Samus porn I've drawn I'm sure you guys have gathered I'm a fan of the series and I'm amazed at how long Nintendo has been sitting on that property.  (And no their ridiculous insult of an announced multiplayer shooter doesn't count.) Plus I just played the demo for Resident Evil 7 and I was...underwhelmed. It seemed like it was really trying to be like the P.T. trailer only not nearly as scary, and it felt absolutely nothing like Resident Evil. I don't know, I try to veer towards optimism when it comes to gaming. So we'll have to wait and see.

It looks like a lot of cool things are coming out for PlayStation so I'm happy about that. God of War is always fun. I'm interested in Watch Dogs 2 also. I know a lot of people were disappointed with the first one but hopefully they've improved it. Injustice 2 is another one I'm excited for, but Netherealm Studios always releases those bullshit dlc character packs so I'm going to try to wait for the inevitable complete edition. I don't know if my will is that strong though lol. I'm hoping Rockstar announces something.

That new God of War did look cool. And yeah where was Rockstar?! Seems like everyone was all but expecting a Red Dead sequel announcement and it never came.

I just saw the trailer for that new Kojima game with Norman Reedus and I don't know what to think of it. It was a really strange trailer. I was really excited for that Silent Hill game that P.T. teased and was disappointed when it was canceled. I was hoping Kojima would make it now that he's left Konami and just rename it, but this looks like something totally different.

I thought the same thing actually. I'd be super hyped if they were going to make the Silent Hill horror game that was teased despite Konami's brainless decision to axe the project, as so many visionaries are doing these days. For example I absolutely cannot wait for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, because the Castlevania name is pretty much dead but the original creator has gone rogue and is continuing the series with everything but the name, and I'll take it happily. But yeah, that weird trailer of a naked Daryll on a beach with a c-section scar really doesn't scream of a great horror game. But, keep in mind, Hideo Kojima is crazy and really likes to fuck with people's expectations. So this game could be literally anything at this point.

Very nice looking Zelda image! I've only seen a few game trailers of the new Zelda game and I'm really looking forward to play it. Will you be drawing any more versions of Zelda? I got more of an Outlast feel from the new RE7 gameplay i saw and your right, it didn't really feel like a RE game to me either. The new SpiderMan game trailer looked amazing (I hope Blackcat is in it). Was hoping for a little more info on Mass Effect and Persona 5. For Honor trailer and gameplay got my attention, thinking of picking that up when it comes out next year. Looking forward to having a laugh with the new South Park game near the end of this year. There are a few more games on my list to check out more (Dishonored 2, Injustice 2, Horizon Zero Dawn)

Whether I get hired for it or not, I'll almost certainly be drawing more Zelda at some point. She's from my favorite game series of all time after all. Speaking of games sounds like we think alike and are looking forward to the same stuff! :)

Yes, it does sound like we're looking forward to a lot of the games that were shown at E3. Which ones for this year are you mostly going to try and get?
