This commission for a friend was a rare case. They requested I draw it in a style that would match how I draw my comics. So as an experiment I panted it like normal but gave the characters a thick black outline. I like how it turned out, gives it a nice contrast.  I'm still going to focus more on painting my commissions, but I think the next chapter of Switch may look a little more like this.

Anyhow this character is a real treat for me.  She's from a comic called Gen 13, which was one of many teenage super-group stories that were so popular in the 90's. It stood out to me because the women in this comic looked really really, hot. Like I'd never seen any comic where the girls looked this sexy.  This was my introduction to the art of J. Scott Campbell, who is still a major influence of mine to this day.

This is very hot, and you did an amazing job with her. I can't wait to see Switch done in this fashion.

I thought, "Freefall? That Freefall? Roxy?`No, can't be so little new Gen13 art nowadays." And then, bamm there she is. Great work, dude.

Holy crap, that looks amazing!

Hey you know how much I love drawing characters that don't have tons of art showcasing them. Gen 13 is pretty obscure these days I'd imagine. I stopped following it as soon as J Scott Campbell stopped drawing it, though I did pick it up again when Adam Warren took over for awhile.

Awesome, glad you like it. And while not every panel of Switch will be quite this detailed (that would take forever) I'm going to start taking this more painterly approach to the faces in the next chapter. :)
