When the Castlewood Caster's Guild started hearing tales of a strange creature dwelling in a murky pool deep within the forest that surrounded the kingdom, it was deemed a matter worth investigating. However, since the idea of sloshing through a swamp looking for a monster wasn't one that attracted any volunteers, Apprentice Warren Girard was appointed the task of solving this local mystery.

Warren set out on his quest, and, to the surprise of some of his betters, returned not only alive but successful in his endeavor. His report described what he referred to as a "slime nymph" who seemed to be formed of the same liquid as the pool of ooze that was her home. Warren explained that the creature had been difficult to communicate with, as it spoke a language that stumped even the most experienced scribes when they studied what notes he had taken.

When asked if the creature posed a threat to the citizens of the kingdom, Warren vehemently denied the notion. In fact he described her demeanor as "very, very friendly."

With that, the guild considered the matter settled. But to this day, Warren's peers notice him sneaking off out into the woods almost every night. According to him, there's still plenty more field research to be done.
