Very interesting! I know you've mentioned it to me several times, since I'm always talking about the poses you do and how hard it is to get the angles right. I can see the uses of this program (I can NOT find good references on Google 90% of the time), but yeah- tracing is rarely good. Even when I do it WELL, the results end up so stiff and unnatural. And sometimes, what looks right in reality (or in a photo) don't look right on paper. There's a whole bunch of people getting their work rejected on Hentai Foundry for anatomical inaccuracies... on TRACED PICTURES! When they cop to tracing, the mods point out that's not allowed on HF, then have to kind of explain why they rejected "anatomy errors" that were actually real anatomy :).

I think it's because a photo is easier for the eye to accept because, well, it's real. If someone's foot looks weird or their hand seems to disappear or their leg is too long, you're brain just fills in the gaps. But artwork doesn't have that luxury, your brain knows it's not real, and looks for flaws. That's my two cents anyway.
