My brother and I have both been massive fans of the animated series since it’s release and we are having very different reactions to the new live action show. He watched 30 minutes of it and quit because he was not happy with the change at the beginning and says you can’t improve on perfection. While I agree that the original was perfect, I really enjoyed the new series. I had a great time anticipating what was coming and picking up the little teases they added in. I don’t mind that they changed some details of the storyline because it kept it fresh and fun, but still, in my opinion, stayed true to the original characters, tone and emotion of the animated series. I think the young cast did a very good job portraying the characters and Sokka was really the stand out to me. I feel like he nailed the comedy while also portraying the more serious moments in a very believable manner. For this episode in particular, Aang never channeled Avatar Kyoshi on Kyoshi island. He did briefly during a trial in season 2, but never for combat. He did channel Roku when he was at his temple however, which is where I’m sure they got the inspiration from. I personally enjoyed it and thought it was a very cool change to the episode. I’m really glad you guys are enjoying the show and look forward to watching the rest of your reactions!

It’s an adaptation for a reason, ur brother probably wanted 1 to 1 and that’s just now how adaptations work. I’m glad ur open minded about this. And I also think this adaptation will bring new ppl to watching the animated version. Just like how One Piece LA brought so much more new fans now to the anime.
