Wow! What a first episode!!! We weren't expecting that. 

We want to note, that this is in SUB. The intention is to do the whole series in sub, but if we start to miss too much we will reconsider the dub option. 

If we mispronounce names in the first few episodes, apologies in advance & please have mercy on us :)

Great way to start the week!! It’s going to be a great journey for y’all & I can’t wait to see what you think. I’ve watched the series in both Japanese & English, & I can’t help but lean towards the Japanese voice acting. Secondly, I would avoid the openings & endings as much as possible, sometimes there’s spoilers in the visuals and sometimes the lyrics have spoilers. Thanks again for the reactions!

Not too excited about the sub, I believe dub is sooo much easier to follow cause you don't have to spend the time reading the subtitles and can enjoy the actual show but none the less I'm still excited for you guys to watch this!

for me personally sub is far superior, i think if you start on sub it will be very difficult to switch to dub. i vote for sub all the way. i think it should be enjoyed in the original form

Most of the names are middle European I believe. German, French, so on. I would also recommend going back and reading those midsection commercial-break cards, they have a lot of interesting trivia - it's not NECESSARY but it is world building :) You can always do that at the end of the episode while discussing the episode. English is perfectly fine audio - Japanese is better, especially Eren's Voice Actor imo, but if you get more out of the story by watching it in English, do so <3

Okay I usually don't comment like ever. But I wanted to say thank you so much for doing this! AOT is one of my favorite animes of all time. 100% Worth watching. Also side note, when the screen switches and the text appears don't feel too obligated to pause during the little break sections which are like 2 seconds. There's a lot of information which is just about the world put on there. Like the walls formation or what the gear they're wearing is. But they explain that later on. So no need to really pause for those. Can't wait to see more! Also I think sub is a great way to start for you guys. I think some dub episodes are better than subbed ones but overall sub is the way to go! You can always rewatch an episode or two in dub if people really want you to for an episode! Anyways thank you again! Woo!

The midsection cards do a great job at giving a little more information regarding the world of Aot. While the information isnt as necessary for watching the show, you learn to appreciate the small details they thought of when creating this world. I agree with Ashtail, you guys should take the time to read it during the review so we also get your reactions to that.

Dub is a lot easier to follow, because it's hard for us to read it and watch your reaction at the same time, but sub is better, even though The dub actors are really really good so if you guys decide to switch, I'm for it. Either way, I'm just so happy you're finally watching it after a year or so of begging!! 😁😄🥰😊

I would recommend dub because this is a show that throws a lot of info. at you at once and quickly. As a reaction channel it will be harder to not miss key info while do your thing. I would suggest maybe doing a poll on here bc people no matter what channel are always split and start arguing

Sub all the way, also you may be having low quality issues watching it on on hulu as I tried to watch it and its 720p at best. Crunchyroll has it high quality.

There have been plenty of youtube group reactors (even those who have never watched anime) who have watched AOT in sub and haven't had an issue. I think people are overstating how hard it is to understand in sub. They've already made their choice, so there's no point in trying to convince them otherwise.

🎺 I'm so excited for this journey , and to rewatch this season with yall ! My fav part of the episode is Hannes saying he Gon defeat the titan, looking it dead in its face and turning back around 🤣. It's definitely action packed and very much intense. So basically in anime, it has intermissions/commercial breaks that have details and fun tadbits before it gets into the second half of the episode so that's what that was 😭

Dub is the way to go with this, Cowboy Bebop, My Hero, Fullmetal specifically, they do an amazing job hitting the right tone and the translations are way better than they were when the notion that dubs suck started taking hold in the anime zeitgeist.

Also for non Americans, Hulu isn't an option. Crunchyroll and Hulu also have different paces for the show so I had to realign my crunchy several times each episode.

I’m surprised that so many people are suggesting you switch to dub, especially since you’ve done movies in foreign languages and have been able to keep up. I hope you guys don’t switch because the sub is incredible and has some of the best voice acting I’ve seen in recent years :) plus, I might be biased here but since it’s the first anime you’re doing on the channel I feel like you should get as close to the original experience as possible lmao. Please stay sub if you don't mind how it works to read subtitles. My brothers can't do sub and it's totally chill but the comments saying that the dub is somehow better are just wrong lol. Ofc do what works best, this is just my opinion. The dub is one of the better ones out there

Also I do want to say I love how you guys don't put audio in your reactions unlike other reaction channels. It makes it maybe a little harder to get the watch along because we need our own source but for things like anime where sub vs. dub is a hot topic, with it set up like this the viewers can choose their own no matter which you guys do so it really is whatever you all want to do

If I can throw my vote in too, I’d like it if you guys can switch to Dub as well. I usually watch dub but I have nothing against subs. While I am admittedly biased, I also agree with the point that this show can get very lore heavy, and I worry you guys can potentially miss a lot when trying to read along. Not to mention you might not get to experience a lot of the really nice animation when you’re focused on the text. Please make a poll for Sub v Dub!

As far as dubs go, the dub in this one is VERY good, and I actually highly recommend it. There's a few points where I actually think the dub is better.

This show is very lore heavy and it's complex but you guys should def keep Sub, the original voice actors did an Phenomenal job and to be honest the dub lost a lot of punch on many scenes across the seasons, there is a build up on the suspense just for the Voice actors alone and it's and experience that cant be missed on the first time watch. But i recommend to read the info on the middle episode too.

Ah I’m glad you guys decided to do sub!! The voice acting is incredible🩵 My friend was half and half between dub and sub but he preferred sub overall. He got used to watching and reading! I would say continue with the sub. The Japanese voice acting in this show is one of the best I’ve heard.

As a fan huge fan of JJK I wouldn't recommend to new anime fans until they've seen at least a few other ones because the magic system is complicated and its heavy on certain tropes. just my opinion. If they get into more tho I totally agree

Sub is good. If you're used to reading subtitles, it's not really a problem. The show can be info/lore heavy and there's plenty of dialogue not to be missed, but's a fair trade-off for how good sub is. a lot of reactors do sub anyway

the world, as we know it as of now, is supposed to be european! the architecture is german and so is the main character's last name "jaeger" :) once you hear and see the rest of the characters' names and appearances, you'll see that they're all, for the most part, white and european 🫶🏼 guys, it's so awesome that you're watching such an amazing anime and in its original japanese ahhh i'm so happy 🌟 had to reactivate my hulu for this hahaha 🥲 i usually use crunchyroll but i'm just glad that i'm watching the exact same copy so there aren't any sync issues 🫡

If you guys are torn between watching the Subbed or Dubbed version, why not go back and rewatch the episodes you've already seen but in the Dubbed version. Then you guys can decide which version you prefer. Because truthfully watching the Dubbed or Subbed versions really just comes down to viewing preference. Both versions are amazing watches. Thank you, yes that is helpful but it still takes me many tries and my idea doesn't infringe on copyright one little bit. Still, I'm thankful that the guys are willing to do this at all, so I'll try to power past the frustration. I know they are tired of the complaints, but I sold books online and when you accept money for a service, a certain amount of listening to customer issues and finding the right balance is just reasonable, even if you can't help that customer. These are smart guys. They have to do what's best for the channel, ultimately. But there's no harm in fine-tuning improvements, where possible. I'll respect their wishes, regardless. I love these guys (especially Oak). ❤️

Emotions by the Japanese VAs are so much better. They did such a phenomenal job and I believe it should be part of the AOT experience. English dubbed tends to be cringe especially when they start shouting or during intense scenes.

Probably because all of the elitists always show up frothing and insisting that you *have* to watch sub otherwise you're doing it wrong. It's astounding to me how weebs behave that way when even the Japanese think it's weird tow arch something in a language that isn't native to you. People can watch whatever they want, but I've personally never heard a good argument for watching subbed anime over dubbed.

Late reply since I'm just now starting my watch a long with them but hope this helps: I normally open a second window and use picture in picture on google chrome but for some streaming services subtitles don't work for pip so just shrinking the window down works as well (For the reaction video just zoom in and scroll down so you can fit both videos on screen)
