Witnessing the ascent of one of the lowest-ranked members of a villainous group to power is undeniably satisfying. The climax of the first episode hinted at a departure from the traditional Scott Pilgrim storyline, especially with Scott's defeat, sparking curiosity about the direction of this adaptation. The retribution served to Gideon was particularly compelling.

Gideon's abrupt plea for forgiveness, despite openly admitting to exploiting the league members to win Ramona, appeared contradictory after his loss to Matthew. While some fans might feel disappointed in Gideon's end result, it underscores the creative team's willingness to take risks and introduce fresh scenarios.

The stylish and entertaining battle between Matthew and Gideon, showcasing different techniques, lacked some of the intensity compared to the battles in the 2010 film. Nevertheless, the unexpected showdown for leadership between Matthew and Gideon adds an element of surprise to the series. Overall, another enjoyable episode of Scott Pilgrim: Takes Off. Looking forward to seeing how Ramona will navigate challenges and potentially rescue Scott.

I read the comics a long time ago, and from what I can remember about them this is totally new material, the comics are similar to the movie with some extra scenes and extra context about the characters, this story took a totaly diferent turn from the source material I remember

Is mission impossible still dropping today?

Love that you guys are enjoying this! Like one of the other comments said, this is totally new content. 😄 The movie, comics, and game are more similar to one another but each very distinct in their own ways. Honestly, each medium they've done for Scott Pilgrim has been kind of its own different take on the story. 😂 To answer one of the questions earlier on in the reaction; the first book released in August of 2004, with the final volume (#6) releasing in July of 2010. The final book wasn't done while the movie was being worked on either, with the movie hitting theaters just a month after the last volume released. The Scott Pilgrim game released just 3 days before the movie as well lol.

Actually, throwing in an idea, 4 player Scott Pilgrim game playthrough for whenever the video game channel happens? 😄 It's basically a 2D arcade-style beat-'em-up similar to River City Ransom, Double Dragon, Streets of Rage, etc.

Yeah as a couple others have said this is completely new material and I think has no connection whatsoever to the original. After the initial charm that I felt in the first episode, this is going in exactly the wrong direction in my opinion. It feels like the low quality garbage that I've come to expect from Netflix with regards to storytelling or writing. They've ruined the Witcher, they've ruined Shadow and Bone, they've ruined Stranger Things, and so many others. I'm tired of seeing low talent hacks getting hired because of their political views and then being put in charge of all of these things they have no business touching.

The person who wrote the original comics is behind this new show. It's his ideas.
