In the debut episode of Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, contrary to expectations, it seems Scott might not be the central focus in this anime adaptation, opening doors to explore the stories of other overlooked cast members.

The episode introduces the cast, building anticipation for what lies ahead. The visual style, reminiscent of comic strips, coupled with nods to video games and captivating animation, immerses the audience in this vibrant world. While the battle between Matthew and Scott lacked the choreography of the 2010 film, it was still compelling.

Seems we are getting Ramona's perspective, raising intriguing possibilities. Perhaps her interactions with exes will involve more heartfelt discussions than Scott's crafty confrontations. The anime adaptation seems to have a unique storyline with noticeable changes and shared similarities, leaving us eager to see the writers' creative direction.

I'm just getting around to this and I liked it. I'm sad that we didn't get to see Crash and the Boys because they were one of my favorite things from the movie and in the comics they're pretty cool. They do play a larger role in the comics so I'm assuming we'll get to see them later, but we'll see. With regards to ya'lls thoughts on this copying the movie, I think you'd be surprised that the movie itself was pretty faithful to the comics at the beginning of it, though it starts deviating more in the middle and end. With that in mind, I'm not surprised that this played out pretty similarly to the movie because both are pretty faithful to the comics. We'll see in future episodes how it goes though. We should start seeing deviations as soon as ex 3.
