What a film this was! Sandra Bullock plays Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant but inexperienced astronaut who finds herself marooned in space after a catastrophic accident during a routine mission. George Clooney is the charismatic veteran astronaut, Matt Kowalski, who provides both a calming presence and a touch of humor amidst the chaos.

One of the film's best achievements is its visual prowess. It takes us right alongside the characters, immersing us in the terrifying expanse of space. The breathtaking long takes create a sense of weightlessness, emphasizing the isolation and vulnerability of the characters. The cinematography is nothing short of astonishing.

Bullock delivers one hell of a performance, battling not only the unforgiving environment of space but also her inner demons. Her character's journey from fear to determination is both compelling and relatable. Clooney provides a charming and charismatic foil to Bullock's vulnerability. The film's minimalistic score, complements the tension perfectly, enhancing the emotional depth of the story.

This film explores themes of resilience, the human spirit, and the will to survive in the face of insurmountable odds. Some could argue that the plot is simple, its brilliance lies in its simplicity. It allows the characters and their dire circumstances to take center stage, making for an intensely visceral experience.

It's a heart-pounding thriller, a visual treat, and an emotional journey all in one. If you haven't seen it, highly recommend watching it. This was great!

Love this movie! My second time watching. You must check out "Pans Labyrinth", one of my all-time fav movies. It's directed by Guillermo del Toro and co-produced by Alfonso Cuaron.

Thank you so much for doing this one! I think it’s incredible in so many ways. The visuals and sound design are breathtaking. But above it all, I just love the story. That fight to survive is told so well and made all the more powerful by its purity. Like you said, they didn’t make it about living for somebody else. It was just the will to live. When she makes it to earth, it’s great. But when she struggles to stand because of the gravity, it’s chef’s kiss! It’s hard to explain, but just that scene of her pushing her way up in the mud and starting to walk is the one visual out of the movie that really stuck with me. Pretty incredible when you consider the amazing visuals of the earth throughout. Kudos to Sandra Bullock!

All I could think about during the fire extinguisher scene was Wall-E lol

I saw this at the theater and it was incredible on the big screen! You really feel the anxiety and the isolation. The sound design was so good, I always love when it will just go completely quiet, it really throws you off when it does. Sandra Bullock was amazing in this, she was nominated for an Oscar I believe and I honestly think she was robbed from it here. It must not be easy to act by yourself for the majority of the film and not having very many people to work off with. There isn't that many actors that can pull off being the only one in the film and she did it very well. When I saw it I was so shocked that George left pretty quickly, of course he was charming but they had good chemistry together and I like him being her conscience there, I had a feeling he was just in her head and it makes sense that she would start having hallucinations and such, so it didn't feel out of place or anything. For me this movie reminds me a lot of Cast Away, not necessarily the themes but by following an actor all by himself and just doing anything to survive.

I'm trying to watch along on (HBO) Max, but it seems Max's version of the movie is somehow sped up compared to the Amazon Prime rental you guys watched. Every minute or so I have to briefly pause the movie for you guys to catch up. I tried speeding up your video to 1.05x but then that made your side too fast compared to Max. It's a shame this is happening with this particular movie, because the best thing about is the atmosphere (no pun intended) and this kept pulling me out it every time you laughed or reacted 1s before/after what i was seeing.

I haven't seen this one since it released. Just got the DVD out and about to start!

Saw this in Imax the first time i saw it, jaw dropping. That opening 20 minute long one shot is just incredible
