Finally got to see more with Mom here! This series is so well structured. We think the writers did an excellent job in how they structured each episode. This one was not a disappointment at all. So much happened. A wild ending. This went by so fast. You're not just a viewer you're actively watching and feeling every moment of this horror story unfold. Your heart breaks for the entire family. Well done as we go into the go home.

The Haunting of Hill House 1x9 FULL REACTION

I think that one of the saddest parts of this episode is that the whole time Olivia thought that she was just dreaming. At the end she just wanted to wake up, she had no idea that she was truly awake doing those awful things. I think when she finds Abigail's body and is crying over her, she has a moment of "wakefulness" but she is sucked back into her dream like state the minute she sees Abigail's ghost. So when she falls off of the stairway she truly believes she is just going to wake up she has no idea that she is actually killing herself in real life.

Don't feel too bad about not getting the Abigail thing, I've seen about two dozen reactions to this and watched this show with a bunch of people, and only one of them ever called that before it happened. The show very much wanted you to believe she was a ghost the whole time. In fact, you guys are one of the few ones who caught that she is the Dudley's daugther before the end! Plus a lot of other things that you caught way before most people! The only thing regarding Abigail that you missed because you were kind of talking over is was Luke saying that Abigal snuck out and she is sneaky like him- that's why he's only ever seen her in the woods, her parents never knew she went over to the house several times as well as that night. And man, that end scene, a gut punch every single time.

One clue about Abigail being real is that we see her in the daytime when Luke is playing in the yard. In the house, the ghost seem to only appear at night, which is why the Dudleys leave before nightfall.

Took 9 episodes to finally see a ghost lol

I love your reactions to this show and hear all of your theories!, I have watch multiple reactions from other channels and this is the first time I hear the guardian angel interpretation for Clara, very interesting point of view!

Nice catch with Abigail! This episode was so heartbreaking. Olivia loved her kids so much, but the House twisted that love into paranoia and delusion :( To answer the question about Poppy, it’s not really confirmed or anything but my interpretation is that, due to the house being this evil and twisted thing, the souls who are stuck there as ghosts end up taking on a creepy/dark appearance (like we saw with Nell when she became the bent-neck lady, or that kindly old woman ghost who still looked freaky, despite being nice). I think they were trying to show that the ghosts can consciously choose to appear looking normal (as we see in the last episode too with Nellie, for example — she chooses to appear as healthy/alive in that moment with her siblings, but other times (like at Nell’s wake or in that famous jumpscare) we see them looking scary and twisted). I think they’re trying to show us that Poppy is masking how twisted and creepy she looks when interacting with Olivia as a way to further manipulate her. Sorry for writing a novel of an explanation 🤣 But that’s my interpretation!

Poppy Hill told Olivia two stories about how she killed her children…that she “woke them up”. Yes, she planted the seed in Olivia’s head to “wake up” her children. Notice Poppy described depression and drug addiction, the screaming mimis for Luke and Nelly. Also pay attention to the Dudley’s when they speak about their daughter.

They showed an old woman for a second when Liv was looking at the beds, because that's how Poppy really looks. Then it went back to how Liv saw her. The other old woman doesn't leave the bed. She died in that bed. The bed that Theo said was a sick bed when she touched it, and the same bed that Luke said smelled weird.

You weren't supposed to know Abigale was real. That ending part when she dies was the reveal. Until then we're guessing is she real or not. Steve wouldn't have the information of Luke or Nelly dying, because Nelly died years after the first book. Unless you mean he's imagining what may happen? But then he wouldn't have gotten the details so exact.

To answer your question about who took Abigail's hand at the end, the going theory is that it's Mr. Dudley's mom. Remember how he talked about her working there, and how she bought the house at the edge of the property? She'd be Abigail's grandma. But, there's also a rumor going around that the actress who played that role said she was young Hazel Hill (older Hazel was the ghost who said "Poppy lies"). Problem is, the actress is uncredited and I'm not seeing screenshots of the mystery actress saying it, so who knows? I saw one article say she was an older, more matronly looking Poppy Hill, but I'm not really seeing that. So basically, Mike Flanagan left us all in the dark, lol. But her being Abigail's grandma (assuming she died in the house) makes the most sense to me.

"In the night, in the dark" is a quote from Clare in the book. I love that they continually used it throughout the series. For me the last line "You go on without me." "How could we?" really hit, they never did move on without her there - the family broken.

I think they purposefully wanted us to think Abigail was made up, so that the reveal that she was real and then killed would be a bigger shock to the audience! So y'all did good, and werent expected to know I don't think!!
