The finale folks! Very interesting finish. The end with the Dad, the care takers, the house itself, and the red room. The spirts of the home. Just wild here with the finish. Overall, this series was absolutely awesome. The story was very well done. Definitely need to do another rewatch. Thank you all to who recommended this.

The Haunting of Hill House 1x10 FULL REACTION

stephanie

both episodes on the same day? u guys are the best 😫

White Wind

u guys gotta react to the "All the ghosts you missed in Haunting of Hill House" Some were right in your face and you didn't even notice them, it's crazy. PD: Will we get Haunting of Bly Manor or Sense 8 in the future?

Joshua Coldwater

Kate Siegel who plays Theo is married to Mike Flanagan and they recently had their first daughter. She was so connected to this character that she named her Theodora.

Shelley

Just finished ep 9..now this. What did we ever do to deserve such blessings 🙏

Jake Gering

An interesting thing about the female Crain members and their abilities is that all the young daughters get one of Olivia's abilities. Shirley gets the dream sleep, Theo gets the touch, and Nell gets the ability to see across time. I think Flanagan described the mom as a prism, of sorts.

This series is Based on a Novel by Shirley Jackson (The Haunting of Hill House), Bly Manor is Loosely Based on The Turn of the Screw and other short stories by Henry James. The two series have NOTHING to do with each other and take place in two completely different times. Some actors or actresses may be the same, but they are playing NEW characters with different stories.

Felicia Almandares

OMG, I knew there was a reason I could NOT sleep after work this morning!! Yes, I'm so looking forward to seeing your reactions!!!

So happy for the second season in my opinion is very different from this one and i hope you love it too!!!

Anza

Mike originally was gunna have a darker ending where, that end scene the window was going to be there, showing they never left, but decided against having a grim ending. As Oak was saying, it was SUPPOSED to be like an anthology series like AHS, so all the same actors but under a new, The Haunting story, but people didn't take it well because it wasn't like Hill House, so it got axed, if I'm remembering correctly which led to Mike doing other series like Midnight Mass, The Midnight Club, etc etc horror series. I enjoyed Bly Manor, it was heavier on the atmosphere and characters but still had some good hauntings and scares and made me cry more then hill house lol and HH had me crying a lot, so, lol. I have no complaints for HH or BM, they're in my top favorite series absolute. Now, you gotta react to the hidden ghosts video. There were some that made me go WHAT cause it was so obvious and out in the open I couldn't believe I missed it lol.

GillyBean

Haunting of Bly Manor is set in a manor/house. but it is not about the manor as such. Not like this one was. This one was about a house and family and grief. Bly Manor is about something different but I don't want to spoil. But it's themes are very different. Enough so that I don't think you'll get tired of the setting. If you are unsure, you could always check out Midnight Mass before Bly Manor. Bly Manor has some great new cast additions also, as well as some familiar faces

Sally Dowse

The haunting of bly Manor has a different story and different characters. Some of the same actors. I think you will still enjoy it.

Ginster

Also while it is a Haunted House story, the genre and whole feel are very distinctly different from each other

Bly Manor is good but I’m really hoping you guys make it to midnight mass. They are all incredible

Ashley Elliott

Great reaction! Love this series. I liked the way the show describes the house as a monster itself with the red room being its stomach that swallowed up its prey. Totally agree with Oak that the series can be taken as an allegory for the power of transparency against mental illness and addiction, especially since during Steve's reconciliation with his wife, he says that secrets are like ghosts. Really enjoyed watching this again with you guys! Now, I will say that I personally didn't enjoy Bly Manor as much as Hill House. Like other people have mentioned it's a different storyline with a lot of the cast returning to play new characters but - to me - it felt like Mike was trying to recapture the magic of Hill House and it just ended up being a bit forced. Is it good? For sure. Is it AS good. Eh debatable. I'd still check it out, but I would HIGHLY recommend breaking it up with Midnight Mass as the next show in between to give yourselves a bit of distance and THEN go back and see Bly Manor. Just a thought.

Kaitlin Tulbert

When you finish the series and recognize the Crain siblings each represent the 5 stages of grief: Steve = denial, Shirley = anger, Theo = bargaining, Luke = depression, Nell = acceptance

Annie Adkins-Calloway

One of my main take aways from this show is nothing is ever just good or bad. Its not that black and white. Sure our brains try to make it that way, but the reality of it is that most things fall somewhere in the middle, in the gray. Was the house good or bad? Was Hugh a bad guy for slamming Olivia into a wall or a good guy because he was protecting the kids? Were the caretakers bad people for not outright warning the family about the house or good people for trying to watch out for them? and the list goes on and on.

Santiago

My vote is for Midnight Mass to be next! Mike Flanagan is the Goat with these thriller anthology

TinCan Cosmanaut

https://youtu.be/xEW6Yg6_bCE Screenrant YouTube channel does 6:30 minute video of hidden ghosts (they didn’t get them all. More than 43) If u want please react. If u want. I bet lots of “ohhh did you see that” Some very obvious some very hidden

bits

I highly recommend Midnight Mass next, it's outstanding: a very close 2nd after Hill House for me. You'll appreciate it even more if you had a religious upbringing/exposure, it's so well done.

TinCan Cosmanaut

I honestly thought it was a general consensus ep9 was the weakest. Most liked the finale, especially red room reveal.

TinCan Cosmanaut

#1 Haunting of hill house #2 Midnight Mass #3 Bly Manor (In my humble opinion) Creator Mike Flanagan His real life wife plays Theo, glove girl

MIDNIGHT MASS NEXT! Very different but still great.

Sophia Eunice Mattice-Aldous

If you guys decide to watch Bly Manor and Midnight Mass then I hope you get more out of them than I did. Not to be a downer, but they are both just okay; no where near as well done as HH. It was a good time experiencing this show again with Badd Medicine and the other patrons. 👍🏻

Lani Meneses

I personally love Bly Manor and it is one of my favorite shows of all time! I can’t wait for you guys to watch!

Whitney Ulerio Duverna

So happy you guys loved it, I suggested this series because is one of my favorite series ever. So fun to watch you every week, sad to see it come to an end. Excited for more 🤙🏽

Milly

I wonder what will follow this amazing series...

Stephanie

Well, tastes can be so different. I think Midnight Mass is the best out of the three. 😉

Badd Medicine

Very interesting that he was going to go dark. Might have worked considering the tone of the season. But the ending was great.

Michael Riley

Bly Manor and Midnight Mass feel like their own thing. In a good way

HXBBIT_FEET

Loved watching the series with you guys such a well written show start to end and twists and puzzles were just so well done, Bly Manor is a little different and not as good but still a fantastic show nonetheless, cant wait for it!!!

Anika

I think this last episode was a nice conclusion to everything we've been given.

Anika

Each season is its own thing. The Haunting of Hill House is my favorite, but my boyfriends favorite is Midnight Mass.

Super Fan Sophie

Loved your reaction! Can’t wait for you to see Bly Manor, same actors, different story. No spoilers but imo Bly manor is less scary but I still think it has a great story. Very character driven. You could also check out The Haunting (1999) it’s based on the same book as Haunting of HH! And it has Liam Neeson, Owen Wilson, Lily Taylor, and Catherine Zeta Jones. 😂 on of my favorite movies of all time, it is a “bad” horror movie though lol. Great for a fun time tho

Veronica

Loved you reaction. You guys should jump to Midnight Mass, and then do Bly Manor. It'll be a nice break from the "haunted house" type show. Both are really excellent though--I personally like Midnight Mass the best. Ep 10 of Haunting of Hill House was a little underwhelming for me, but I really loved the concept that memories are like confetti.

CT

I wonder what will come after this superb show.. I’m thinking true detective if you haven’t seen it, it’s an amazingly analytical show with absolutely phenomenal writing and a stellar cast . Definitely wouldn’t disappoint!!

Halestar

I'm so glad I decided to watch this show with you guys. I don't normally do horror stuff. This has to be one of the best shows I've ever seen. I loved the finale. I loved all the answers we got. I'm so so glad that some of the characters got a happy ending (I was really afraid that they were all going to die). The ending made me very emotional. I was balling my eyes out. I have seen Midnight Mass and thought that was also phenomenal. I think Hill House might be better though. They're very different. Definitely looking forward to seeing what Bly Manor has to offer!

Anonymous

Did the show end in a satisfactory way for you guys or did it end up like Lost series finale?

Sarah.the.clumsy

I wonder if all those ghosts hanging out there all the time... do they ever have a game night? Ms Hill complaining about her hip over a game of monopoly. Mr Hill can never keep track of his damn hat. And there's Poppy in the corner always trying to start shit over the RR properties.

Claybee

This is gonna be a long ass message but here we go 🤣 This was a phenomenal to watch you guys reaction, as always ❤️ I’ve been dealing with night shifts so only now getting around to it but I was so excited to watch these two episodes and didn’t disappoint! Personally, I loved episode 10 the most. I think it wrapped everything up so well and unlike some shows I don’t feel there was anything left untied. I think the little backstories and pieces from their red room experiences were well played out, it was nice to see the Shirley reveal and get the tall man backstory (even if it did feel out of place a little for Theo’s part). I have to somewhat disagree with Oaks statement in that it’s open to interpretation. I don’t think it’s questionable whether it all happened or not, it did happen. But I also feel like what Oak was trying to say is that there’s so many elements to take away that it’ll mean different things to different people which makes it feel like a different show for those who watch it which I feel completely sums up the show. My personal take away was that there’s always going to be good and bad in life, and we can’t just focus on the negatives or they consume us. Like the dad said to Olivia, “that’s the deal we make, whatever that life is we bear witness” and his commentary on getting to see his daughter dance at her wedding and that love spreads. I also enjoyed your comments about it being about the walls we build up, and how they change our perception on things and people. My favourite take away is Nell’s line on “the rest is confetti”, which I take as our lives are about love and being loved, and yes we argue and we fall out with people and shit happens, but all of that is scattered nothing because the truth is love. To comment on Bly Manor, yes there are returning cast members as well as some outstanding new ones, but it does feel like a totally different show. I do agree with others that it may be better to watch something like Midnight Mass or a different show before that just so Hill House doesn’t change how you feel about it. Personally, I love them both, but I do think if you watch Bly Manor after watching this, you won’t think as highly of it as you might because it can be easy to compare the two with being about ghosts (although honestly for me that’s the only similarity between the two).

Loved this reaction series so much. A hidden ghosts video reaction would be fun! There’s some great behind the scenes videos on episode six with how they did the crazy one shot takes during the two storms too. The Flanaverse is such a rich world, ripe for the picking and watching. Hill House is incredible and continues to be with each rewatch. I echo what others have said in watching Midnight Mass next. It will be a good break from the haunted house vibe. Bly is good with wonderful themes and characters, but slower. If you want a shorter watch, but are interested in more Flanagan, I’d highly recommend his movies Gerald’s Game, Hush, and Doctor Sleep. His next big project comes out this year and is an Edgar Allen Poe adaptation called Fall of the House of Usher. Cannot wait for it on Netflix whenever it drops this year. Thanks so much for watching and enjoying!

I liked Bly, not as much as Hill but didn't care that much for Mass. Part of that had to do with guessing the big reveals in the 2nd episode. I would put Midnight Club above Mass. But more so for the individual stories within the story. Especially episode 8 which I thought was brilliant!

Anonymous

Phoenomenal reaction series I was pumped to see that you guys were doing this one as it is one of my favorite shows of all time. To echo everyone else I'm a huge fan of anything that the creator Mike Flanagan does including The Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass and The Midnight Club as they all are much more than just the typical surface level horror and the deeper meanings and themes are really thought provoking. Personally my 2nd favorite after Hill House is Midnight Mass which goes in a very different direction but if any of you had a Catholic or spiritual upbringing like I did will send shivers down your spine. I know you guys are a little concerned about starting Bly Manor and it not living up but I can confirm that although it is also a Haunting show with returning cast members it is SO MUCH different than Hill House in terms of theme and tone and it is a little bit of a slower burn but once the story gets going it's so entertaining and tragic. Thanks again for watching and keeping us all entertained. Glad you guys enjoyed and hopefully you cover more Flanagan shows on your channel!

Ekk

Would definitely recommend Midnight Mass by Flanagan, not a haunted house story but arguably as good as Hill House.

Dylan Ostic

Always thought the ending of this show would have been a great setup to an adult Scooby Doo type show. Like after they find closure at Hill House the Crains start investing other hauntings. Lol.

Alex

i'll never not cry watching this ep, especially the confetti and ending with the Dudleys
